Not only was he ridiculed for his shabby setup, but the Weekend Update anchor on SNL encountered a staph infection after slicing his foot on a coral reef. The injury progressed to an ear infection as well, leading to his evacuation from Tahiti for safety reasons.
Despite the circumstances, nothing dampened his wit, as he unexpectedly resurfaced a few days later, still delivering his remarks from Malta.
