As a long-time admirer of Keke Palmer‘s incredible talent and resilience, I find her bravery in speaking about her past traumatic experiences truly inspiring. It takes immense courage to share such personal stories, especially when they challenge societal norms and bring attention to often overlooked issues like child-on-child molestation.

Keke Palmer is opening up about being a victim of child-on-child sexual abuse.

As I eagerly wait for the release of my upcoming book titled “Master of Me: The Secret to Controlling Your Narrative” on November 19, I sat down with People magazine to share a painful and personal part of my past – an incident where I was molested by a peer when I was about five years old. This experience was traumatic for me, but speaking out about it now is a step towards healing and empowerment.

Child-on-child molestation isn’t often discussed, yet it does occur,” Palmer explained. “I experienced something that made me feel uncomfortable and violated, but I didn’t quite understand how to define it at the time. All I knew was that I had strange emotions and thoughts, and I felt a bit powerless and swamped by them.

Ever since I was a kid, I’ve been captivated by the world of acting. At just 10 years old, I landed my first minor role in “Barbershop 2” back in 2004. But it wasn’t until two years later that I truly understood the profound effect that my past traumas had on me.

After thoroughly reflecting on the event, she stated, “It wasn’t a matter of accusing that other child; often, we may not fully comprehend our own experiences, particularly when they don’t align with what society leads us to expect.

Afterward, Palmer gained fame as a child actor, securing the main role in Nickelodeon’s show “True Jackson VP“. Since then, she has appeared in numerous productions such as “Scream Queens”, “Hustlers” from 2019, and “Nope” released in 2022.

Her sudden fame astounded us. It was an astonishment to them that I could earn such a substantial amount of money, or that I could visit Universal Studios and be swarmed by a hundred people simultaneously,” she explained about her family’s response to her rapid rise to fame in her youth. “The burden of this newfound recognition was heavy, and we all felt its impact in various ways.
