As a seasoned movie buff with years of cinematic adventures under my belt, I can hardly contain my excitement about Tom Holland and Austin Butler joining forces for the high-octane race car film, “American Speed”. These two young stars have been on a roll this year, and it’s a thrill to see them tackling such an intriguing project.
Actors Tom Holland and Austin Butler have been linked to an upcoming racing-themed movie called “American Speed.” This project has just been purchased by Amazon MGM Studios following a fierce bidding war.
The upcoming movie is expected to involve Oscar-winning producer Charles Roven (from Atlas Entertainment) and RD Whittington, along with Douglas Banker. Dan Wiedenhaupt is writing the script, which will depict the true account of the notorious Whittington brothers, well-known race car drivers. In the 1980s, they were entangled in a significant IMSA scandal, during which numerous drivers were accused of funding their racing endeavors through drug trafficking, money laundering, and tax evasion.
Although neither actor has mentioned the project publicly, they’ve both had a busy year so far. Tom Holland is rumored to be part of future Spider-Man films and will also work with Matt Damon in Christopher Nolan’s next production. As for Idris Elba, he’s been cast in Dune: Part Two alongside Timothée Chalamet and is currently filming Darren Aronofsky’s movie, Caught Stealing. Keep an eye out for updates on this front.
