8BitDo Unveils New Retro 108 Mechanical Keyboard

As a seasoned gamer with decades of experience under my belt, I must admit that the 8BitDo Retro 108 Mechanical Keyboard has piqued my interest. With its nostalgic design inspired by Nintendo’s iconic NES and Famicom consoles, it brings back memories of countless hours spent battling villains and conquering virtual worlds.

8BitDo has revealed their latest product following the launch of a mobile gaming controller – the brand new Retro 108 Mechanical Keyboard.

The keyboard boasts a built-in numpad and improved capabilities, taking cues from Nintendo’s NES and Famicom gaming consoles. For this release, there are two distinct models: one inspired by the NES, available in white, dark gray, and black; and another model reminiscent of the Famicom, showcasing a white and red color scheme with subtle Japanese characters beneath the English letters.

The Retro 108 model boasts a 22% broader design compared to its previous version. It includes extra Windows shortcuts for calculator, Function Lock, and Screen Lock. Constructed with robust, changeable Kailh Box White V2 switches and PBT keycaps using the dye-sublimation process, this keyboard guarantees superior typing feel and long-lasting durability. The users can effortlessly shift between Bluetooth, wireless 2.4GHz, or USB connection via a dedicated switch. A fine-tuned volume control wheel and N-key rollover round up the list of features.

A notable advancement is the Super Buttons, modeled after the iconic A and B buttons from NES and Famicom gamepads. These large, customizable buttons use a 3.5mm connection to enable users to set personalized macros for easy access to intricate commands. They come in red, blue, or yellow, and can be linked together with up to four sets of Super Buttons. This blend of nostalgic design and practical application offers benefits for gaming and work-related tasks alike.

Beginning on December 12, you can purchase the 8BitDo Retro 108 Mechanical Keyboard from 8BitDo’s online store for $120 USD. If you’d like to include Super Buttons, they can be added for approximately $30 USD each.
