Kewlbiverse is a new Pal-like that leans heavier on the whimsy and less on the guns

  • Kewlbiverse is an upcoming open-world RPG creature collector
  • And if you’re getting shades of Palworld you’re not alone
  • But this new take looks to emphasise quirkiness over heavy weapons

As a lifelong gamer and collector of virtual creatures, my heart skips a beat whenever a new open-world RPG creature collector game comes along, especially one that seems to channel the whimsy and charm of Pokemon. And with Kewlbiverse, it’s like someone took Palworld, gave it a good shake, added a dash of quirkiness, and came up with something truly unique.

Since the release of Palworld, it appears that numerous developers have been attempting to emulate its open-world RPG and creature-collection formula. However, most efforts so far have fallen short of replicating the original’s charm and whimsy, often appearing as imitations or variations on the Palworld theme. Kewlbiverse, however, seems poised to offer a unique twist, not least because its creatures are called Faeby.

One notable aspect is that, although it features the necessary elements such as character collection, weaponry, and open-world role-playing gameplay, it aims to stand out with a touch of whimsy and oddity. Unlike other games in its genre, it seems to steer clear of the serious or conventional, opting instead for a more playful and quirky vibe.

In the coming days, we’ll be starting a closed beta for Kewlbiverse, created by Aidelweiss Studio, a team of experienced developers. They are confident that their unique concept, a chilled-out monster taming game, will leave a lasting impression. So, keep an eye out for more details about Kewlbiverse in the future!

A little lighter and a bit softer

I believe the Kewlbiverse concept is quite appealing. However, games like Palworld and its imitators seem to overemphasize the familiar trope of integrating guns and darker elements into a creature-collecting game. Instead, I feel that many people yearn for something reminiscent of Pokemon but without the burdens or shortcomings associated with Gamefreak’s recent releases.
