As a gamer who has been around since the dawn of mobile gaming, I can confidently say that Angry Birds has undeniably left an indelible mark on my gaming life. From its humble beginnings to its current status as a titan in the industry, it’s hard to think of a time when those feathery, fury-filled avians weren’t part of my daily routine.
Hard to imagine life without Angry Birds. Together with Clash of Clans, it revolutionized mobile gaming and Rovio remains one of the leading developers today. It’s no wonder they’re planning a series of events to celebrate their 15-year anniversary.
This month, you can dive into Angry Birds 2, Angry Birds Friends, and Angry Birds Dream Blasts to collect festive rewards and treats! For a week, Angry Birds Friends will host the Angryversary: Nostalgia Flight tournament. Meanwhile, Angry Birds Dream Blast is introducing a Jigsaw event. Lastly, expect an exclusive hat event in the latest mainline entry, Angry Birds 2.
Beyond the gaming realm, Rovio is also marking the occasion with a variety of collaborations: artist partnerships, exclusive comics, a special livestream event, and even a street interview in Helsinki. Not to mention, their Times Square billboard in New York City has been showcasing this anniversary since January! Sky high
Reflecting on it, even though it might seem a tad over-the-top for a game about flinging birds at pigs, I’d be hard-pressed to find anyone who’d dispute Angry Birds’ incredible rise to fame, orchestrated by Rovio. In fact, among the mobile games I can recall, it’s one of the rare ones that expanded into a blockbuster movie franchise and even caught the attention of Sega, who seemed to have acquired Rovio primarily to rejuvenate their own mascot’s presence in the mobile gaming sphere.
Why not delve into an unusual aspect of Jupiter Hadley, where they examine the actual bird species that served as inspiration for the show? This way, you can enjoy a celebration by learning more about their sources!
