- A new entry in the classic, Diner Dash inspired series
- Introduces a welcome PVP focus
- Monetisation and more options have clearly been chief among the developer’s focuses
As a seasoned gamer with a soft spot for time management cooking games that harken back to the glory days of Diner Dash, I must say I’m quite intrigued by Potion Punch Rivals. Having spent countless hours stirring virtual pots and taking orders in the fantastical world of Potion Punch 2, I can’t help but feel a sense of nostalgia mixed with excitement at the prospect of this new entry.
I greatly enjoy the Potion Punch series, particularly Potion Punch 2 which stands out as my personal favorite. These games seem to embody a magical take on cooking games, reminiscent of Diner Dash but with a more contemporary twist. Being a devoted Diner Dash player, I’m constantly seeking out games that share the same appealing vibe.
In Potion Punch Rivals, you engage in a thrilling time management cooking game alongside another player, each working from separate counters within a diner setting. The objective is to swiftly prepare customers’ orders and deliver them to the shared area before their patience runs out, ensuring a seamless flow of service. Your focus should be on managing your station effectively while keeping an eye on the common space where undecided customers may choose either counter. The player with the most earnings at the end of each round emerges victorious!

As a gamer, I jump right into this game, finding it’s got the same fast-paced action as the previous Diner Dash series, but now there’s an added twist – I’m going head-to-head with another player! There’s a nifty power-up that boosts my speed for a short while, and if I manage to fulfill extended orders in succession, I rack up combos that pump up the tip I receive. Familiar characters from past games are there to be unlocked, along with some fresh faces I haven’t seen before. It’s a whole new serving of fun!
As a thrilled player, I eagerly noticed during the demonstration that they plan to incorporate battle passes, which will offer an exciting new way to gain access to premium in-game items such as characters and abilities. Remarkably, these skills are not yet available in Potion Punch Rivals, but their inclusion is certainly something to look forward to!
In addition, it’s possible that you’ll have an opportunity to enhance your kitchen. It’ll be intriguing to discover if you’re matched against someone with the same kitchen or if improving your kitchen at the onset is crucial for your success in the game. The thought of a competitive environment excites me, possibly because I’m a competitive person and I believe I can outperform any opponent that comes my way!
Potion Punch Rivals itself is planned to release sometime next year, on Steam, iOS and Android.
