In its first month alone, it accumulated nearly 2 billion viewing hours. Although Season 2 is set to air in December as per the 2024 TV schedule, the creator initially had second thoughts about returning.
Although whispers circulated about a second season following the show’s debut, Netflix took almost a year to confirm Season 2 in summer 2022. One might expect a show of such scale to be renewed promptly, but here’s an explanation for the delay. The mastermind behind the series, Hwang Dong-hyuk, revealed to The BBC that he suffered dental loss – around eight or nine teeth – during the first season, causing him initial reluctance to continue.
