As a dedicated Marvel fan who’s been on this rollercoaster ride since the early days, let me tell you, Feige’s latest comments about Wanda Maximoff have sent a wave of anticipation coursing through my veins! I’ve seen the highs and lows, the triumphs and the tragedies, but Wanda has always been a character that tugged at my heartstrings. The thought of her journey continuing is simply thrilling!
For quite some time now, the Marvel Cinematic Universe has been churning out fresh content across various platforms – cinemas and Disney+ streaming service. A recent television show that made its debut was “Agatha All Along“, richly filled with nods and connections to Scarlet Witch, portrayed by Elizabeth Olsen. Moreover, the latest statements from Kevin Feige about Wanda Maximoff have brought a sense of reassurance as a fan.
Fans who have followed the Marvel movies series for years recognize some characters as their top picks. Leading the pack is Scarlet Witch, played by Elizabeth Olsen, whom fans are eager to see return in future Marvel productions, despite her apparent demise at the end of Doctor Strange 2. During a chat with Omelette at D23 Brazil (as reported by ComicBook), Feige hinted at possible developments concerning Wanda, saying:
Just finished binging Agatha All Along on Disney+, and let me tell you, it was a mind-blowing experience! Ever since then, my curiosity about Wanda has been through the roof. So, needless to say, I’m on pins and needles waiting to find out when and how Scarlet Witch will make her next appearance.
Indeed, I find myself quite at ease. Although he didn’t reveal any specifics, it seems as though the higher-ups at Marvel may plan to carry on Wanda’s tale at some unspecified point in the future. This could potentially imply that her death, as portrayed in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, might not be permanent. Only the passage of time will provide clarity.
Feige pointed out the series “Agatha All Along“, which was rich in connections to the Scarlet Witch throughout its run. The show left Wanda’s survival uncertain, as Agatha presented contradictory accounts about whether or not Wanda was still alive. Moreover, Billy, her son, played a significant role, and the finale of “Agatha” saw him searching for his brother Tommy. Given these developments, it seems like an ideal moment to reintroduce Wanda.
During the final episode of “WandaVision,” the Scarlet Witch expressed regret, but her mind was later corrupted by the Darkhold, leading her return in “Doctor Strange 2.” In a violent rampage, she sought to rejoin her sons, Tommy and Billy, across different universes. Eventually, it appeared as if she gave up her life to ensure that the Book of the Damned would be destroyed forever.
In a surprising twist, it was shown in Agatha All Along that Wanda didn’t need America Chavez’s abilities to bring her children back. Instead, Billy was revived once Wanda closed the hex and occupied the body of a boy who had passed away in a car accident. Regrettably, Lilia’s sigil made it impossible for people to recognize the resurrected boy, known as “Teen” throughout the series. It must be heartbreaking for Wanda to realize that her son was actually nearby all along after she’d journeyed through multiple realities in search of him.
Upcoming in theaters on Valentine’s Day, February 14th, is the new Marvel film titled “Captain America: A New World“. In the meantime, take a look at the scheduled release dates for movies in 2025.
