As a fan who has been captivated by Lupita Nyong’o’s powerful performances since her Oscar-winning role in “12 Years a Slave”, I am absolutely thrilled to see her joining the star-studded cast of Christopher Nolan’s upcoming project! Her versatility and depth as an actress make her the perfect fit for whatever secretive, mind-bending story Nolan has up his sleeves.
I just got word that I’m jumping into the fray of a highly anticipated, secretive movie project helmed by director Christopher Nolan. Seems like everyone’s been buzzing about it, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The actress who recently starred as the lead in the summer’s blockbuster alien thriller titled “A Quiet Place: Day One” has been added to an impressive list of actors for an upcoming project, which already features Matt Damon, Tom Holland, Anne Hathaway, and Zendaya.
Nolan penned the screenplay and is overseeing the production, with Universal Pictures slated to distribute it. The planned release date is set for July 17th, 2026.
Nolan’s latest movie is shrouded in more mystery than his other films, offering minimal plot details due to his secretive nature. Different speculations about the project have surfaced – ranging from a period vampire thriller to an action-packed helicopter drama. However, those close to the project insist that none of these theories accurately capture Nolan’s true vision.
Universal had no comment.
The filmmaker, together with his spouse and partner Emma Thomas, are jointly working on a project under their production company, Syncopy. Plans for filming, tentatively scheduled for the early part of 2025, are currently in progress.
The latest innovation brings Nolan back together with the studio responsible for producing his drama Oppenheimer, a movie that catapulted him to his inaugural Oscars. He clinched the best director award and received a best picture trophy as a producer, contributing to the film’s astounding global box office success of $976 million.
Nolan often collaborates with a specific group of actors, but Nyong’o will be joining his crew for the first time. However, she is not unfamiliar to Universal Studios. She lent her voice to the character in Universal’s adaptation of Peter Brown’s book, “The Wild Robot,” produced by DreamWorks Animation. This production has been a significant success at the box office, earning nearly $300 million since its September release. Additionally, she appeared in Universal’s horror film directed by Jordan Peele, titled “Us.
Lupita Nyong’o was awarded an Academy Award for her role in Steve McQueen’s film “12 Years a Slave,” also appearing in “Black Panther” and its sequel, “Wakanda Forever.” In September, she launched her podcast titled “Mind Your Own,” which is personal, joyous, and focuses on the theme of belonging, sharing African perspectives.
The actress is repped by CAA and Del Shaw.
