As an old-school gamer who’s been to more music festivals than I care to remember, let me tell you, Hypefest Hong Kong 2024 was a game changer! The energy there was electrifying, and it wasn’t just from the thunderous beats of Justice or Peggy Gou. From the immersive digital installations to the interactive carnival games, this festival had everything a gamer-turned-raver could ask for.
For the inaugural Hypefest Hong Kong, held on the weekends of November 9th and 10th, TopMob illuminated the vibrant cityscape of Hong Kong for the first time.
At the Central Harbourfront Event Space in Hong Kong, TopMob hosted its biggest event ever, Hypefest Hong Kong 2024, over two days. Despite a forecast for rainy and windy weather, the event drew an impressive crowd of over 28,000 people. The marquee acts included international artists Peggy Gou and Justice, who were nominated for two GRAMMY awards during the same weekend. In addition to these headliners, the festival showcased a variety of music genres with performers like ADOY, Awich, Rich The Kid, d4vd, sunkis, and many others from both international and regional scenes.
As a gamer, I was blown away by the fantastic experiences on offer at this festival. There was something for everyone! Coin Parking Delivery’s massive inflatable art installation caught my eye, and watching SIMON live-paint was mesmerizing. The ASICS SportStyle digital installation and Timberland’s “TIMBS it YOURSELF” customization workshop were also highlights, where I got to create something unique with exclusive shoe accessories. Mercedes-Benz showcased their G-Class, adding a touch of luxury to the event.
At Hypefest Hong Kong, attendees kept themselves well-fed and full of energy by visiting the food village. A diverse array of vendors participated in this event, including BaseHall presents: Draftland, Bengal Brothers, Devil’s Tea, Dionysus & Loong, Honbo, Jeonpo Meat Shop, Snack Baby, and SONNY’s. Each one offered a selection of their most popular dishes as well as unique menu items exclusively for the event.
