As a longtime fan of Blue Bloods and Lori Loughlin, I must say that her portrayal of Grace Edwards has been nothing short of captivating. Her character has added depth to the show, providing a unique perspective on the Reagan family dynamics. Despite the controversy surrounding her personal life, Lori’s talent as an actress is undeniable. It’s fascinating to see how she manages to bring such complexity to Grace while maintaining the integrity of the character.
Contains spoilers for “Blue Bloods” Season 14, Episode 14 — “New York Minute”
In an unusual turn of events, the Reagan family encounters a setback as Danny Reagan’s (Donnie Wahlberg) city’s Irish Society award, which was initially promised, is revoked in the episode “New York Minute.” Frank (Tom Selleck), taken aback by this revelation, delves into the reasoning behind the decision. It turns out that Danny’s longstanding police career, with its mix of positives and negatives, is held responsible. Incredulously, he learns that Grace Edwards (Lori Loughlin), the society’s legal advisor, was the one who revoked the award. When they meet, he queries whether this is due to their past encounter concerning her son, but she denies it.
Previously, Grace and Frank have had their fair share of disagreements, as was shown during Season 7 in the episode titled “The Greater Good.” Under less contentious circumstances, Frank attempts to support Grace in dissuading her son from joining the police force. During this interaction, a hint of romantic tension develops between them. However, the son ultimately decides to become a cop. Grace acknowledges his decision and even praises him for being a good one. When the family informs Danny about it, he becomes idealistic and eventually refuses the honor, out of respect for his late brother Joe Reagan who was killed before “Blue Bloods” started.
The rest of the family exhibits concern over the whole situation, since this was the final accolade Joe received before his demise. Meanwhile, Danny may harbor doubts about his acting career ahead, but Lori Loughlin, off-screen, has transcended past controversy and is now thriving as a character artist.
Lori Loughlin has a thick resume behind her – and has previously met with controversy
As a gaming enthusiast, I’ve always admired Lori Loughlin’s impressive acting career that spans across various television shows and films. From her early days on “Edge of Night” to her breakout roles in movies like “Rad” and “Secret Admirer”, she’s built a strong foundation in the industry. While many might recognize her as Becky Donaldson from “Full House,” it’s important to remember that she started out portraying teenage characters. Her journey on “Blue Bloods” is just another testament to her versatility and enduring presence in the world of entertainment.
Following her stint on “Full House”, Loughlin took on the role of Ava Gregory in the brief run of the CW primetime soap “Summerland”. She made appearances in “Old Dogs” and “Moondance Alexander” before joining the CW’s reboot of “90210”, portraying Debbie Wilson for its initial three seasons, after which her character moved to Paris. Subsequently, she starred as Abigail in “When Calls the Heart” and played Jennifer Shannon across the “Garage Sale Mystery” series of TV movies. Additionally, Loughlin reprised her role as Becky on “Fuller House”, a spin-off series of “Full House”, 13 times.
After spending two months behind bars due to her part in a college admission scandal, she has since found her way back into the cozy realm of Hallmark productions, featuring prominently in multiple holiday movies. It remains to be seen if she will make another guest appearance on “Blue Bloods” before it wraps up production permanently on December 13.
