As a dedicated Marvel fan with years of experience under my belt, I can confidently say that the upcoming Disney+ series, “Daredevil: Born Again,” has me positively giddy with excitement! After all the turmoil behind the scenes, it’s refreshing to hear Brad Winderbaum’s assurance that this show will run for multiple seasons. Comparing it to Game of Thrones? Well, if that ain’t a feather in its cap, I don’t know what is!
The Marvel Disney+ series titled Daredevil: Born Again has experienced quite a bumpy road getting to our screens, yet Marvel TV head Brad Winderbaum is so certain about the show that he anticipates it will last for “several seasons.” Despite the various upheavals off-screen, where the initial season was reduced from 18 episodes to just nine, Winderbaum clarifies that the actors’ and writers’ strikes gave them a chance to “rethink” their work. In the end, they concluded that the series would deliver its finest with fewer episodes.
In a chat on Brandon Davis’s YouTube channel, Winderbaum shared intriguing details about their vision for Daredevil, likening the Marvel series to the groundbreaking television show, Game of Thrones.
This first season seems perfectly set up as a foundation for seasons to come, possibly even beyond. I believe this series has the potential to span numerous seasons. The New York depicted by Dario is incredibly intricate and feels like it could be a series focused on palace intrigue. In some of my recent interviews, I’ve compared it to Game of Thrones, and I think that comparison holds true because there are many different groups fighting for power in very complex ways.
Fear Not, Daredevil: Born Again Will Be Just as Violent as Its Netflix Predecessor
Ever since the announcement that Daredevil: Born Again would be released on Disney+, there has been speculation about whether it will continue the intense violence seen in its Netflix version. Some have wondered if characters like Daredevil and The Punisher might become less violent to fit with Disney’s family-friendly image. However, it appears that those craving action need not worry, as Winderbaum refers to Born Again as “one of the most violent things we’ve ever put on screen.
Frequently, people inquire about the nature of our production, asking questions such as ‘will it be graphic and intense like the original series? Is it suitable for mature audiences? Is it truly TV-MA material?’ My response is affirmative. However, this intensity doesn’t come without a price. There’s no unnecessary content in it. It stands out as one of our most violent productions, but its purpose serves a greater tragic narrative that is incredibly engaging.
In “Daredevil: Born Again,” the narrative will draw heavily from the comic book series titled “Mayor Fisk.” This storyline unfolds as The Kingpin, now serving as New York’s mayor, gradually takes control of the city. Matt Murdock finds himself working for this powerful crime boss, who skillfully manipulates public opinion and pretends to be philanthropic in order to wage a covert war against costumed heroes.
In the Disney+ Daredevil series, many beloved characters will return, bringing joy to fans. The show features Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock, also known as Daredevil, alongside Vincent D’Onofrio as Wilson Fisk, or Kingpin. Additional cast members include Jon Bernthal as Frank Castle, better known as The Punisher, Deborah Ann Woll as Karen Page, Elden Henson as Franklin “Foggy” Nelson, and Wilson Bethel portraying Benjamin “Dex” Poindexter, aka Bullseye. The lineup also includes Margarita Levieva, Michael Gandolfini, and Genneya Walton.
