East Bay Punk Music Drama ‘Out Come the Wolves,’ Based on Rancid Album, Finds Cast (Exclusive)

As a seasoned gamer with a penchant for both video games and movies, I must say that the upcoming indie drama “Out Come the Wolves” has truly piqued my interest. With its gritty portrayal of a high school group navigating the treacherous East Bay punk music scene in the 90s, it’s like stepping into the world of an open-world survival game where every corner hides a potential threat or a chance at escape.

As a passionate admirer, I’m thrilled to share that Orlando Norman and Spence Moore II, alongside Heidi Grace Engerman and Cassady McClincy Zhang, are gracing our screens in the indie drama titled “Out Come the Wolves“. This remarkable production marks a significant milestone as it’s also the directorial debut of producer Danny Peykoff. I can hardly wait to witness this promising collaboration unfold!

Besides Sam Rechner, West Mulholland, and Curran Walters, additional talents have joined the cast for a new feature film that started shooting in Portland, Oregon this week. The production, which marks Big Newport Studios’ first venture, is being financed and supported by its founder Peykoff. This project serves as their debut endeavor.

Amidst the punk music culture in East Bay during the mid 90s, Wolves is a tale of resilience and ambition amidst a backdrop of chaos and despair. The characters, portrayed by Norman, Moore, Engerman, and Zhang, form a close-knit group of high school friends yearning to leave their troubled city. However, escaping proves challenging when the city is teeming with figurative dangers and oracles lurking around every corner. The narrative follows these teens as it explores who will ultimately find an escape and who might become a victim when the wolves emerge to hunt.

This drama draws inspiration from the 1995 self-titled album by punk rock band Rancid, and is penned by Peykoff and the Neese brothers. The Neese siblings, renowned for their work on shows like ‘Umbrella Academy’ and ‘Cruel Summer’, are involved in producing Kevin Costner’s Western trilogy titled ‘Horizon: An American Saga’. Meanwhile, Peykoff is serving as an executive producer for the same series.

Peykoff and the Neese brothers are producing Wolves along with Glenn Kleczkowski and Paul Hadad.

Afterward, Norman will make an appearance in the upcoming Amazon movie titled “The Map that Leads to You“, directed by Lasse Hallström. Additionally, you can catch him in season 2 of Apple TV’s post-apocalyptic series called “Silo“.

Engerman showed up in a chilling manner in the 2021 remake of ‘Candyman’. Since then, she has been seen on screen in ‘Power Book IV: Force’ for Starz, ‘Chicago Fire’ for NBC, and ‘The Bold and the Beautiful’ for CBS.

Zhang is primarily recognized for her extended, series-regular character portrayal of “Lydia” on AMC’s hit show, The Walking Dead.
