Peak Inside the Orior Designed Penthouse at Brooklyn's Latest Waterfront Tower

As a seasoned gamer with a keen eye for design and a heart for the city I call home, let me tell you that stepping into One Domino Square’s Orior-designed penthouse was an immersive, breathtaking experience. This isn’t just another swanky apartment; it’s a masterfully crafted sanctuary that speaks to the soul of New York City itself.

As an ardent admirer, I’m thrilled to share that the grand opening of Selldorf Architects’ maiden residential tower, One Domino Square, has been accompanied by a unique spectacle. The Irish furniture brand Orior has graced us with a bespoke penthouse, exquisitely adorned with Orior furniture, Bocci lighting, Blue Green Works fixtures, and Katie Ann McGuigan rugs – just to name a few of the stunning features!

Orior’s unique design initially took cues from minimalistic modernism and subtle elegance embodied in the structure, adorned with gleaming porcelain tiles. The initial impression of the inviting interior is a soothing softness, achieved through the use of natural materials, warm, rich tones, and curvaceous shapes.

A beautiful spiral staircase unfurls into the main living space, enclosed by smooth white plaster running throughout the different levels of the home. This unexpected, yet soothing juxtaposition against the sharp exterior of the building continues with the Orior furniture, including a reimagined Nero Table in walnut and Irish limestone and the Eli Chair in a classic white boucle. While the panoramic view gives one the sense of being high above the vast city, consistently voluptuous cushion shapes and thick wooden legs across the range of furniture provide a strong grounding effect.

Bocci and Blue Green Works lighting features an organic design with uneven shapes, as seen by the hanging light fixtures that cascade above the living area. The choice of textured rugs in earthy colors anchors each part of the condo, from the dining room and bedroom to common areas and outdoor terrace.

The design space by William Jess Laird, created by Orior, is revealed as the company celebrates the 10th anniversary of the inauguration of its first New York showroom in Williamsburg in 2015. Despite moving to its Soho showroom later on, Orior’s reappearance in Williamsburg within the One Domino Square tower signifies a significant milestone, symbolizing a return to where it all began.
