As a die-hard fan of both Marvel movies and power couples, I can’t help but admire Blake Lively even more after learning about her role in shaping the ending of Deadpool & Wolverine. Her insight and involvement in the reshoots have not only added an extra layer of suspense to the film but also demonstrated her keen understanding of storytelling and character development.

If my wife Blake Lively hadn’t been in the picture this past summer, the climax of that blockbuster Marvel movie featuring Deadpool and Wolverine might have unfolded a bit differently, since I (Ryan Reynolds) was involved.
In the movie featuring Reynolds and Hugh Jackman as the main characters portraying their superhero personas (with Lively making a brief appearance as Lady Deadpool), the ending leaves the survival of Deadpool and Wolverine uncertain after they destroyed the time machine and vanished from sight. For a fleeting instant, as Matthew MacFadyen’s Paradox delivers his final menacing speech, viewers are left wondering if the heroes have managed to escape unscathed.
In a behind-the-scenes commentary for the film, director Shawn Levy acknowledges credit where it’s due, noting how there was initially no uncertainty about the heroes surviving after the power room explosion. However, Blake Lively suggested they should experience the suspense of believing they might have perished to make their eventual survival more emotionally and physically impactful. This insight was reported by Games Radar.
Levy further explained, “This aspect of the film now offers a fresh perspective due to the reshoot, making the end result far more rewarding.
In other parts of the discussion, it was mentioned that Reynolds, who was also a producer of the blockbuster movie, disclosed that they carried out approximately one and a half days’ worth of additional filming sessions.
Usually, films like these require multiple weeks of additional filming. However, Matthew’s particular dialogue was among the scenes we re-filmed. Remarkably, his performance was exceptional.

This year has undeniably shown that Blake Lively’s producer’s imagination is spot on, as evidenced by the release of “Deadpool & Wolverine” and her movie adaptation of Colleen Hoover’s bestselling novel, “It Ends With Us,” just a month apart. Following the debut of “It Ends With Us,” it was revealed that there was tension between Lively and director Justin Baldoni, leading to Blake commissioning an alternate version of the film. This separate cut was crafted by Shane Reid, who has also worked on “Deadpool & Wolverine” as well as Lively’s Taylor Swift music video, “I Bet You Think About Me.” It remains a mystery which version eventually made it to the big screen, but insiders claim that Lively’s cut was indeed what was shown in theaters.
During the promotional tour for “It Ends With Us”, Lively shared that Reynolds played a part in writing a significant rooftop scene at the start of the film.
