Will Chad Michael Murray Join the ‘One Tree Hill’ Sequel Series?

As a longtime fan of “One Tree Hill,” I can’t help but feel a mix of excitement and trepidation about the potential return of this beloved series. On one hand, the prospect of revisiting the small town of Tree Hill and catching up with our favorite characters is truly enticing. After all, who wouldn’t want to see what became of Lucas, Nathan, Peyton, Brooke, and Haley?

Chad Michael Murray may not be returning to One Tree Hill.

During a chat with the Los Angeles Times, which came out on Wednesday, the actor from Merry Gentlemen was quizzed regarding rumors surrounding the revival of the popular teen series he graced for a span of seven seasons.

Upon learning the news, Murray revealed that he had a conversation with his previous screen partner, James Lafferty, who portrayed his on-screen half-brother, Nathan Scott, in the series.

He stated that since nobody has called and explicitly mentioned they’re taking on this action, we’re not going to do it either.

However, he was happy about the prospect of the series returning: “I want it for the fans.”

In an interview with E! News, Murray expressed his gratitude for the 24-year journey of the show, stating, “The opportunity to be part of this remarkable experience has been truly incredible. I hope that for every person who grew up with this show, it left a small but meaningful impact on their lives and helped shape their perspective during their youth.

In August, news surfaced that Netflix is working on a sequel series for the previous CW show, with Hilarie Burton Morgan and Sophia Bush reprising their roles and also taking up executive producer positions alongside Danneel Ackles. These three actors had previously worked together on the original series. Warner Bros. Television, who produced One Tree Hill, is also involved in the potential sequel’s development. Becky Hartman Edwards, known for her work on Firefly Lane, is penning the follow-up.

The creator of “One Tree Hill,” Mark Schwahn, will not be part of the new spin-off series. Previous cast members have claimed that Schwahn fostered an unpleasant work environment and engaged in sexual harassment on the original show.

Amidst all the current events, Morgan posed a query on social media: “Could it be possible to actually return home?

If we get a chance to collaborate with outstanding artists and establish a platform for our friends to exhibit their skills, preserve our legacy, reclaim our territory, and acknowledge our supporters, count us in! Tree Hill is unique, and the #OTHfam has proven that it’s not just a concept; it truly is where ‘everything feels better and everything seems safe.’

During an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Bethany Joy Lenz, who portrayed Haley James Scott for nine seasons, shared her thoughts about the potential sequel series: “At this point, it’s hard to predict. There are numerous factors that influence whether a show gets made and which cast members take part. Even if I had some insight, it wouldn’t be comprehensive enough to fully explain the intricacies of the process. Suffice it to say, I adore Tree Hill. It will always hold a special place in my heart, and I remain open to any developments.

In the imaginary town of North Carolina, the series One Tree Hill focuses on half-brothers Lucas (Murray) and Nathan (Lafferty), who have a complicated relationship. As they navigate high school life and social circles, their bond is tested. Alongside them are their close friends Peyton (Morgan) and Brooke (Bush). Notably, Lucas’ best friend, Haley James (Lenz), becomes Nathan’s love interest over time.
