WWE's CM Punk Just Landed A New TV Show That Seems Like A Better Fit For The Undertaker

As a long-time fan of both professional wrestling and horror films, I can’t help but feel exhilarated by CM Punk’s latest move into acting. His career trajectory is as unpredictable as a rollercoaster ride, much like his in-ring performances back in the day. It’s fascinating to see him stepping into the world of the undead with Syfy’s “Revival,” a series that promises to be as intriguing and suspenseful as a WWE title match.

CM Punk, a dynamic and tenacious professional wrestler of the contemporary scene, is undeniably carving out a memorable legacy. His journey includes an impressive stretch, highlighted by the blockbuster match with Drew McIntyre at Bad Blood, which could lead him to challenge for the World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania or another forthcoming WWE event. Yet, it’s somewhat unexpected that his acting career is garnering attention as well.

He’s shown off his acting skills with recurring roles on shows like Heels and Mayans M.C., and has a penchant for signing on for films of the horror variety. Punk is tapping into those genre interests for a new TV project that sounds way more aligned with The Undertaker, but is still exciting all the same.

The wrestler known as Phil Brooks is preparing for a recurring part in Syfy’s horror series titled “Revival.” This is the initial live-action version of the highly praised comic book with the same name, crafted by writer Tim Seeley and artist Mike Norton for Image Comics. He will be joining an ensemble that currently includes Melanie Scrofano from “Wynonna Earp,” Glenn Gould from “Tulsa King,” David James Elliott from “JAG,” Andy McQueen from “Outer Banks,” and Steven Ogg from “The Walking Dead,” among others.

The story, titled “Revival,” unfolds in a peaceful rural Wisconsin setting, where life takes an unprecedented turn on a day now called Revival Day. This extraordinary event brings back to life people who have recently deceased. Unlike typical zombies, these reanimated souls retain many of their original characteristics and behaviors. As the local sheriff (Scrofano) navigates his way through a deeply personal murder investigation, the town is thrown into turmoil by the confusion and intrigue that follows this extraordinary phenomenon.

32 Of The Most Shocking Heel Turns In Professional Wrestling History

From what I’ve gathered, details about my character in this upcoming project are being tightly guarded, so I’m not sure yet who I’ll be portraying. Given that the comic series had 47 issues and a diverse cast of townsfolk, outsiders, investigators, and more, it’s challenging to predict how I might fit into this grim universe. As a gamer, I can’t wait to find out!

At the moment, the filming of the new cable series is taking place in New Brunswick, Canada, with aspirations for its premiere on Syfy sometime in 2025. Although it won’t be exactly like Chucky, which was axed this year, it’s still an intriguing development. With CM Punk actively involved in the show, it will be fascinating to observe how his participation may impact his wrestling commitments.

He likely wouldn’t allow a consistent TV role to interfere with his possible WrestleMania match against Drew McIntyre. Therefore, if there are certain weeks during the holiday season where he isn’t as available, it would most likely be due to his other professional responsibilities rather than any indication of concerns.

If unexpected circumstances arise and CM Punk can’t pull off his “Revival” character, it wouldn’t be far-fetched for The Undertaker to come out of retirement to play a role in the comic book TV show we’re working on. I mean, it’s not like he has better things to do or anything… right? Or maybe that’s just wishful thinking on my part as a fan.
