Chloe, Villella’s daughter, confirmed her father’s passing on social media over the weekend. Coincidentally, Villella himself posted about his death on Facebook the same day, expressing, “Michael Pasquale Villella has departed this life; may he find peace. I pray that God receives him warmly and escorts him to heaven.
TMZ reported he died of organ failure after around month in the hospital.
In 1982, Villella made his acting debut as Russ Thorn, the power drill murderer, in the movie “The Slumber Party Massacre”. This film also featured Michelle Michaels and Robin Stille. Amy Holden Jones directed the movie, with Rita Mae Brown co-writing it alongside her.
Initially conceived as a humorous take on slasher films, the movie eventually morphed into a full-fledged horror production, gained a dedicated fanbase, and sparked numerous sequels and adaptations. Villella played a supporting character in the 1990 spin-off, “Sorority House Massacre II,” and made an appearance in the 2010 documentary, “Sleepless Nights: A Fresh Look at the Slumber Party Massacres.
In 1983, Villella starred in the film “Love Letters,” followed by appearances in “Gotham” (1988) and “Wild Orchid” (1989). He also played roles in “Wild Orchid II: Two Shades of Blue” (1991). On television, his work included episodes of “Amazing Stories” and “Getting Away with Murder.
