As a devoted fan of ABC’s reality dating shows, I can’t help but feel a pang of nostalgia as we bid farewell to The Golden Bachelorette and eagerly anticipate Grant Ellis’ journey as The Bachelor in 2025. However, the question on everyone’s lips is: will there be a spinoff akin to Bachelor in Paradise for our beloved senior contestants?
2024 has brought an end to the popular golden segment of ABC’s reality dating shows, with Bachelor Nation eagerly anticipating Grant Ellis’ role as The Bachelor in 2025. However, the identity of the next Golden Bachelor remains undecided, leaving fans speculating whether there might be a new spinoff series like Bachelor in Paradise for senior contestants. While many, including Jesse Palmer, are hopeful about this possibility, Joan Vassos has expressed doubts as to its feasibility.
After the debut season of “The Golden Bachelorette,” where Joan Vassos found love and got engaged to Chock Chapple, she hinted at the possibility of merging their suitors with Gerry Turner’s women from “The Golden Bachelor” for a potential spinoff. Interestingly, she noted that they weren’t the only ones who found love. The 61-year-old educator shared with Decider her thoughts on this matter:
It appears that around five contestants might currently be in relationships or paired up, which could potentially limit the number of eligible individuals for a new season of Bachelor in Paradise. However, it’s uncertain if these relationships will last or if they are just fledgling romances that may not endure. Consequently, if a Paradise were to take place soon, we might struggle to find enough participants.
Joan Vassos’ thoughts seem particularly insightful. For starters, it’s worth noting that several of her characters and Gerry Turner’s females are now involved in new relationships – some are even paired up! Additionally, we’re unsure about the timeline for the hypothetical spinoff of Golden Paradise, so it’s uncertain how many of these individuals would still be single or available.
Regardless of whether ABC’s cameras are recording or not, Joan Vassos has already been matchmaking for both casts. Moreover, she isn’t taken aback by the seniors’ readiness to advance following their stint on ‘The Golden Bachelorette’.
It’s worth mentioning that I wasn’t exactly taken aback by this development, but it did occur rather swiftly: several of the male participants from the series have found themselves in relationships unexpectedly soon. This rapid turn of events underscores the influence and impact of the show itself. Prior to appearing on the program, they hadn’t been involved in any romantic relationships. Some had been single for a considerable length of time. After their daily interactions with other men during what they referred to as ‘free therapy sessions,’ these experiences seemed to have prepared them to embrace love.
We delight in witnessing the Golden group forming connections and recovering together, making their ongoing adventures all the more captivating for Bachelor Nation! In line with Joan’s observation, however, it’s worth noting that some of them seem to have found partners already. For instance, Mark Anderson seemingly started a relationship with actress Barbara Alyn Woods from One Tree Hill, as they were seen at a Halloween party dressed up as Cinderella and Prince Charming respectively.
At a soccer match, Leslie Fhima (Gerry Turner’s runner-up) shared photos with Jordan Heller (Joan Vassos’ fourth-place finisher). Meanwhile, Jack Lencioni was seen sitting next to Susan Noles at “The Golden Bachelorette” show’s “After the Final Rose,” following his statement on a podcast that they were planning a date. There’s speculation about Sandra Mason and Gary Levingston after their apparent connection at Joan and Chock’s engagement party, and Jonathan Rone has openly announced that he is in a relationship.
It seems like they won’t require assistance from ABC anymore, as it appears there are no immediate plans for “Golden Bachelor in Paradise”. However, don’t miss out on Grant Ellis’ journey to find his perfect match when “The Bachelor” Season 29 starts airing at 8 p.m. ET on Monday, January 27, only on ABC, or catch it the next day with a Hulu subscription.
