As a seasoned horror movie enthusiast who’s seen more coffins and sarcophagi than I care to count (thanks to countless midnight viewings of classic films), I must say, Regal Cinemas has truly outdone themselves with this Nosferatu popcorn sarcophagus. At $30.99, it’s a small price to pay for a piece of cinematic history that doubles as a snack container. And if you’re like me and can’t resist the allure of the macabre, you might just find yourself with an empty sarcophagus on your lap and a popcorn-filled one in your hands. Just remember, don’t feed the Count!
Regal Cinemas’ latest collectible popcorn bucket doesn’t suck.
The movie theater chain unveiled a popcorn container shaped like a sarcophagus of Nosferatu for the approaching Robert Eggers horror movie.
For movie enthusiasts like me, indulge in the elegance of our box priced at $30.99, complete with a large popcorn. Or, if you prefer to simply savor the cinematic experience without any extra trimmings, join us for just $25.99, and enjoy your seat accompanied by an empty sarcophagus.
The “Nosferatu” DVD or Blu-ray will become available for purchase a full week prior to its official premiere on December 25th, specifically on Wednesday, December 18th.
Just thought I’d mention, a coffin and a sarcophagus are not the same thing. A coffin is essentially any box used for burial, while a sarcophagus is usually made of stone, decorated with carvings or inscriptions, and often placed above ground – it functions much like a large, enclosed tombstone.
Here’s a look at the box without the lighting effects:
The sarcophagus marks the latest viral popcorn collectible that theater chains have created to help boost revenue, with the infamous Dune popcorn bucket being the most famous and the Deadpool & Wolverine bucket being the most naughty. The trend’s origins are credited to AMC Theatres and Disney teaming in 2019 to make an R2-D2 popcorn and drink holder for the release of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker that sold out at $49.99 each.
Nosferatu is a modern retelling of the 1922 German film, originally inspired by Bram Stoker’s 1897 novel Dracula. This new adaptation features an ensemble cast including Bill Skarsgard, Nicholas Hoult, Lily-Rose Depp, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Emma Corrin, Ralph Ineson, Simon McBurney and Willem Dafoe.
At Regal Cinemas, they’re taking your cherished popcorn buckets to a whole new level by introducing a collectible popcorn sarcophagus instead!
