As a long-time fan of the macabre and quirky, I couldn’t be more thrilled about the spectacle that is the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade this year! The addition of Wednesday Addams serving her brother’s head as the main dish for the holiday float is a delightful twist on tradition. It’s like a dark, gothic fairy tale come to life right in the heart of New York City!
Instead of a turkey, Wednesday Addams is presenting her brother’s figure as the centerpiece for their holiday meal.
This year at the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York City, Netflix is set to introduce a float featuring the Addams characters, with Morticia appearing especially jovial. She will be depicted serving Pugsley’s head on a tray accompanied by Thing. Moreover, you can expect a troupe of Wednesday doppelgangers and a live rendition of “Paint it Black” performed by indie-pop singer Bishop Briggs.
The celeb-packed lineup for the parade will be led by Alison Brie, Idina Menzel and T-Pain. Special appearances will be made by Jimmy Fallon & The Roots, Kylie Cantrall, Lea Salonga, Jonathan Bennett, Liza Colón-Zayas, Tom Kenny, Ginna Claire Mason and members of the New York Liberty, with mascot Ellie the Elephant.
The Radio City Rockettes are set to perform alongside cast members from popular Broadway shows such as “Death Becomes Her,” “Hell’s Kitchen,” and “The Outsiders” – the latter being the 2024 Tony Award winner for best musical. Idina Menzel will also be singing the hit song “Great Escape” from the latest Broadway musical, “Redwood.
This year, I’ll be exploring fresh character options hailing from various worlds! From the magical Minnie Mouse and the extraordinary Noorah, to the elfin wonder of The Elf on the Shelf, and action heroes like Goku and Spider-Man – there’s a diverse cast for me to play with!
This year’s unveiling of the Addams’ float has added to the anticipation among fans, who are eagerly waiting for the upcoming second season of the popular Netflix series featuring Jenna Ortega. Notably, earlier this month, Lady Gaga was announced as a cast member for season two.
This year’s NBC’s Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade will broadcast live starting at 8:30 a.m. Eastern Time, continuing until noon ET. You can watch it streaming online on Peacock, or catch a re-run in the afternoon on their main network.
