Where did the inspiration for the brand come from, and how was the name chosen?
It struck me that my passion for coffee had roots deep within, even though I hadn’t recognized it until I began exploring its intricacies more thoroughly. Similarly, my fascination with collecting mugs and old publications has been a constant in my life, but it wasn’t until recently that I connected the dots and realized their underlying significance. My friend suggested keeping detailed notes to help me discern which coffee processes, origins, varietals, and techniques resonated with me for future reference.
Over time, integrating note-taking into my daily habits sparked an idea: why not share them publicly? With my collection of mugs and magazines on hand, I thought they’d make perfect companions to these notes. Given my affinity for nature, it seemed organic to direct the brand toward outdoor themes. My partner was the one who suggested the name, seeking a moniker that embodied both tranquility and an outdoors connection. It took me a few tries to get it right at first!

My primary intention is to convey the thought that one should carve out moments in their daily schedule for pleasure. In my case, that means experimenting with different coffees and taking the time to read or flip through a publication.

Secondly, it underscores the intimate and low-key nature of the Japan pop-up tour, which consisted of only one day in each location. In spite of being a small business, Quiet Mountain Cafe manages to make a significant impact in person, with pop-ups appearing all over, including New York City’s Blue in Green and shops in Japan. Could you elaborate on the role that face-to-face experiences play in this brand’s identity?
As a gamer, I firmly believe that there’s nothing quite like showing off a game in real life, letting folks get up close and personal with the product, truly experiencing its essence beyond the digital screen. And there’s something incredibly rewarding about brewing a steaming hot cup of coffee – sharing a special blend, watching the delight on someone’s face as they take their first sip. It’s these small, tangible moments that make all the difference.
