This week in Los Angeles, the team behind The Rings of Power, including producers Patrick McKay and J.D. Payne, hosted a Q&A session for the upcoming second season (via @RingsofPowerEra). During this event, they discussed the progress on Season 3. Notably, Payne shared that he had recently used nearly all of his 13-hour flight to draft the script for the new season. In addition, McKay mentioned that they have figured out the plot for Season 3 and are now busy writing it down.

“We’re really excited. We have a story. We think it’s really strong…and we’re working on it.”

It’s intriguing how they’re carrying on as if “The Rings of Power” had already been renewed for another season, even though there’s no official announcement yet. It’s common for production work on a new season to continue while waiting for the official green light, especially for a large-scale series like this one that requires careful planning and preparation ahead of time. It seems Amazon might be waiting to review completed scripts before making an official announcement about another season.
