As a long-time fan who has followed Pete Davidson‘s journey from the get-go, it’s both heartwarming and amusing to see him share his financial milestones on Saturday Night Live (SNL). It seems that even the comedic geniuses we admire have had to make practical decisions with their first big paychecks.
Pete Davidson is getting candid about how much he made during his time on Saturday Night Live.
The performer who graced the NBC comedy sketch series from 2014 to 2022, both an actor and a jester, recently disclosed in an Instagram video for New York Magazine the amount he received per episode, along with his largest splurge following his initial paycheck from SNL.
Does everyone know how much we get per episode? It’s approximately 3000 dollars, so I believe I can treat myself to a nice dinner tonight!” – Davidson stated.
Davidson made a lasting impression on Saturday Night Live with numerous standout performances during “Weekend Update,” characters, and skits such as “Chad,” “Rap Roundtable,” and “Jasmine and Aladdin.
Yet, it wasn’t just the “Bupkis” actor who shared their initial big paycheck purchases. Jason Sudeikis, a former SNL castmember and writer, confessed in a video that he didn’t earn enough to make large purchases. Instead, he said that New York rent was likely the largest expense he incurred after writing for SNL during his first year.
In addition to using some of her earnings sensibly for paying apartment rent, Rachel Dratch is among the SNL cast members, such as James Austin Johnson, Sarah Sherman, Seth Meyers, and Cheri Oteri, who opted to purchase furniture with their initial paychecks. Quite relatable, wouldn’t you agree?
Oteri mentioned, ‘It’s a sofa,’ she explained. ‘I’ve had it re-covered about three or four times. Once, a designer visited in distress and said, “The arms are too tall. We’re getting rid of the sofa.” I replied firmly, “Absolutely not! Not today, old chap! The sofa stays, you leave!”‘
Regarding Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Bowen Yang, and Sarah Silverman, they opted for high-end choices. “I splurged on a pair of shoes that exceeded my budget,” Louis-Dreyfus chuckled. “Let me tell you, they were approximately $75.
Yang stated, “I’m heading over to Saks just across the road to buy a set of Gucci shoes. They’re the ones that seem to be popular, but I don’t think they’d quite suit my style anymore.
