A&E, WWE Expand Partnership With Competition Series

As a seasoned gamer with a penchant for wrestling video games, this news from A&E has me absolutely thrilled! The prospect of watching real-life contenders train under legends like Triple H, Undertaker, and Shawn Michaels is nothing short of exhilarating. It’s like stepping into the ring myself, minus the sweat and bruises (and the risk of a legitimate concussion).

A&E is enhancing its collaboration with the WWE, which now encompasses the introduction of a live wrestling event within their television lineup.

The cable network has acquired a show titled “WWE Legends & Future Greats (LFG)” where aspiring professional wrestlers compete to secure a WWE contract. They will receive guidance and coaching from renowned wrestling legends such as Paul “Triple H” Levesque, The Undertaker, Shawn Michaels and others during their training process. As A&E explains, the “LFG” in the title represents “Legends & Future Greats.

Apart from the competition series, A&E has also commissioned two new shows: one titled “WWE’s Greatest Moments” that will analyze significant matches and occasions from the company’s past as indicated by its name; and a fifth season of their documentary series “WWE Rivals“.

Filled with blood, sweat, and tears, there’s no other series that blends ring action, behind-the-scenes truth, intense drama, and some of WWE’s most iconic figures into one complete package,” said Rob Sharenow, president of programming at A+E Networks. “From beginners to legends, LFG will offer viewers an unfiltered, grassroots perspective on what it takes to succeed in the WWE. Our partnership with WWE has clearly struck a nerve with audiences, and we’re thrilled to keep creating top-quality content that appeals to a broad range of viewers.

As a gaming enthusiast, I’m thrilled to announce that A&E has been an exceptional host for our WWE content. We’re pumped up about joining forces with their amazing team to develop fresh show ideas and embark on the new season of WWE Rivals.

LFG resembles the reality show Tough Enough, which aired in the early 2000s and briefly returned in 2010, as it challenges aspiring WWE stars. Similarly, the upcoming series will have WWE veterans Booker T, Mickie James, and Bubba Ray Dudley guiding the contestants. These hopefuls will engage in weekly matches, along with learning the intricacies of the business off-camera.

In the production of “LFG,” Lee Fitting, Ben Houser, Michaels, and Jeremy Borash act as executive producers for the WWE. Meanwhile, Elaine Frontain Bryant and Brad Abramson serve in that role for A&E.

WWE play-by-play man Michael Cole will host Greatest Moments, which will feature past and current wrestlers looking back at some of the company’s defining matches. WWE’s Levesque, Fitting, Houser and Marc Pomarico exec produce with A&E’s Bryant, Abramson and Jonathan Partridge.
