As a child of the ’80s and a lifelong Star Wars enthusiast, I can’t help but feel a sense of nostalgic excitement with every new LEGO set announcement from this iconic universe. Growing up, my imagination was fueled by the adventures of Luke Skywalker, Han Solo, and their friends, and now, as an adult, I find myself transported back to those simpler times whenever I see a new Star Wars-themed LEGO set.

The upcoming LEGO sets based on the Star Wars universe are almost upon us, showcasing everyone’s favorite bounty hunter and his cherished little apprentice – the Mandalorian and Grogu. Additionally, you can expect minifigures and models from The Clone Wars and Star Wars: Episode II – Attack of the Clones to be released. These are scheduled for launch in January 2025.

LEGO has unveiled six new sets for their sci-fi franchise, focusing primarily on characters and sets from the widely popular Mando-verse. Leading the pack is a set designed for LEGO novices: Mando & Grogu’s N-1 Starfighter, which includes minifigures of Grogu, Din Djarin, R5, and the miniature version of the well-known spaceship from seasons three of The Mandalorian and The Book of Boba Fett. The second Mando-themed release features a model of Grogu and his signature hover pram, along with a minifigure version of the beloved Star Wars character. Given its popularity on Disney+ and upcoming films, it’s not surprising that the Mandalorian and Grogu are the main attractions in this upcoming release.

Four additional sets, renowned from “The Clone Wars” and “Star Wars: Attack of the Clones,” are set to be released. The Ahsoka’s Jedi Interceptor, priced at an affordable $44.99, comes with mini-figures of Ahsoka Tano, Anakin Skywalker, R7-43, and the Interceptor ship itself. For collectors, there’s also the Acclamator-Class Assault Ship, a medium-scale model consisting of 450 pieces. Lastly, the Home One Starcruiser and the ARC-170 Starfighter, which appear in various forms across multiple “Star Wars” media, will be the priciest sets at $69.99 each.

It’s not an exaggeration to say that the collaboration between LEGO and Star Wars is one of their most financially successful ventures. Starting with a simple X-Wing Starfighter in 1999, LEGO Star Wars has since grown into a multi-million dollar industry that continues to thrive. Recent projects like The Mandalorian have played a significant role in this success, capturing the interest of younger audiences and providing endless opportunities for brick-based reimaginations. Yet, the continued creation of sets based on older Star Wars properties demonstrates LEGO’s deep commitment to the Star Wars universe. Even as we eagerly anticipate new sets, it’s comforting to know that the original films and shows haven’t been overlooked.

It’s quite likely that upcoming LEGO releases will continue to feature The Mandalorian for several years, despite speculation about season four of the series appearing less frequent. Although there are doubts about the show’s return, its creator is keeping hope alive. Regardless, fans can look forward to seeing The Mandalorian and Grogu in an upcoming film, ensuring their presence even if the series ends prematurely. In the interim, fans can enjoy streaming The Mandalorian on Disney+ or pre-order some of the LEGO sets.
