’28 Years Later’ Trailer: Aaron-Taylor Johnson and Jodie Comer Flee For Their Lives as Zombies Close In

As a seasoned gamer and zombie apocalypse survivor, having navigated countless virtual wastelands and fended off hordes of undead, I eagerly anticipate the release of “28 Years Later.” With its gritty visuals and tense atmosphere, the trailer promises an immersive experience that will undoubtedly resonate with fellow survivors like myself. The return of Danny Boyle and Alex Garland to the franchise is a testament to their vision and knack for crafting compelling post-apocalyptic narratives.

Sony Pictures unveiled the initial teaser for “28 Years Later,” the highly anticipated zombie apocalypse follow-up by director Danny Boyle.

The video shows a quick, violent depiction of events that transpired 10,228 days ago, as an unexpected zombie outbreak sweeps through the U.K. Days turned into weeks, and then weeks into years, focusing on a secluded island inhabited by survivors who appear to have reverted to a more basic lifestyle (imagine hunting with bows and arrows). Somehow, the zombies managed to infiltrate this rural paradise, leading to a rapid decline of events. The trailer also introduces Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Jodie Comer, and a visibly exhausted and battered Ralph Fiennes for the first time.

In the aftermath of what happened in “28 Weeks Later”, the Rage Virus reappears, and a band of survivors find themselves battling to stay alive amidst a devastated world overrun by legions of the infected.

It’s been mentioned that Cillian Murphy is set to reprise his character from the 2002 movie “28 Days Later,” but he doesn’t appear in the initial trailer. Joining Taylor-Johnson, Comer, and Fiennes are stars Jack O’Connell, Erin Kellyman, and Edvin Ryding. Notably, original writer Alex Garland has come back to write the script, as well as Boyle.

The movie was simultaneously made along with a subsequent installment titled “28 Years Later Part II: The Bone Temple“. This production is helmed by director Nia DaCosta, and both Boyle and Garland are involved in the scriptwriting process, with Murphy also featuring in the cast.

28 Years Later will be released June 20.
