As a gamer with over two decades of Warhammer experience under my belt, this news has me more excited than a Space Marine seeing a Chaos invasion from afar! Henry Cavill‘s passion for the franchise is evident, and I can only imagine what he’ll bring to the table as both star and producer.
Typically, when an artist or craftsperson is deeply invested in the project they’re handling, the final product tends to be superior. For example, Ryan Reynolds was able to bring Deadpool to life after the leaks, and now Ariana Grande is embodying her dream role, Glinda, in Wicked. As a dedicated Warhammer fan, Henry Cavill’s enthusiasm should get fans thrilled (and perhaps even prompt them to subscribe to Prime Video), as the long-awaited Warhammer TV series is finally progressing. In fact, Cavill recently shared an inspiring message that has me eagerly awaiting it.
Approximately two years ago, it was revealed that Henry Cavill would star and produce in the Warhammer series for Amazon’s Prime Video. After this announcement, there was limited information shared about the project. There were even concerns that the rights might expire without a decision on how to use the IP. However, today, Henry Cavill himself confirmed via Instagram that all parties are now involved in a Warhammer project. In part, he wrote…
Working in close collaboration with the brilliant minds from Games Workshop, my outstanding team and I have been diligently brainstorming ways to capture the grandeur and complexity of the Warhammer universe. We’ve immersed ourselves in a vast sea of remarkable characters and delved into ancient texts and manuscripts for inspiration. Our collective efforts have culminated in a promising starting point for our Universe, which has been approved by key decision-makers at both Amazon and Games Workshop.
In simpler terms, Cavill remains vague about the details, keeping secret where exactly this new universe will originate from. Initially, it was intended that his project would establish a cinematic universe, similar to how the Warhammer franchise spans both fantasy and science fiction genres within one expansive world, with events occurring thousands of years apart.
Alongside Henry Cavill’s announcement, there was a picture of him standing outside a game store in Jersey – the very same place where he first bought Warhammer models. It’s evident that Cavill shares the excitement of many about this upcoming project, and his eagerness suggests that the dedication poured into this production will be immense. Here is his complete post for you to read below.

It’s hoped that as both a producer and an actor, Cavill can create a Warhammer series that remains true to its source material, much like everyone involved in the project would undoubtedly aspire. Previously, Cavill was deeply invested in The Witcher, but he departed from that series allegedly due to concerns about its deviation from the original books. However, given Cavill’s passion, let’s stay optimistic and wish for the best.
At the same time, Henry Cavill has more significant projects lined up besides just Warhammer. He will begin filming next year for Chad Stahelski’s Highlander remake and is also slated to appear in another adaptation of Voltron on Prime Video.
