A24’s Critically Acclaimed ‘The Brutalist’ Receives Official Trailer Showcasing Adrien Brody as a War-Afflicted Architect

As a movie enthusiast with a penchant for historical dramas and a deep appreciation for the complexities of human experiences, I am thrilled about the upcoming release of “The Brutalist” by A24. The storyline, set against the backdrop of post-World War II Europe, resonates deeply with me, having spent a significant part of my formative years studying history and its impact on contemporary society.

A24 has released the official trailer for Brady Corbet’s The Brutalist starring Adrien Brody.

In this highly praised historical drama, Brody portrays the lead character László Toth. The movie chronicles Toth’s journey post-Holocaust survival in Europe, as he ventures to America seeking a fresh start. The film’s trailer showcases Toth’s arrival in America and learning that his wife Erzsébet has likewise made it through the war. The epic narrative unfolds with Toth being recognized for his architectural skills in America. In the cast alongside Brody are Felicity Jones, Guy Pearce, Joe Alwyn, Raffey Cassidy, Stacy Martin, and others. During the trailer, Pearce’s character questions Brody’s character about his humble job shoveling coal in Philadelphia, to which Toth responds, “It isn’t as straightforward.” He then discusses his European work during the war, explaining that despite the ongoing conflict, many of his projects had miraculously remained standing. The film appears to focus on the prejudice faced by Jewish immigrants at the time, with Pearce telling Jones (who plays Erzsébet), “Your English is commendable. Maybe you can help your husband sound less like he’s a shoe shiner.” In the movie, Toth becomes visibly upset, shouting, “They don’t want us here.

Currently, the movie titled The Brutalist has been nominated for several Golden Globe awards, such as Best Motion Picture, Best Performance by an Actor, and more. The premiere of this film is scheduled for a limited 70mm release in New York and Los Angeles on December 19, with a wider release planned for January 2025.
