As a long-time YouTube TV subscriber, I can’t help but feel a pang of disappointment every time I hear about another price increase. It seems like just yesterday when I was paying $35 a month for this service, and now it’s creeping up towards the $100 mark. My wallet may be getting thinner, but my love for binge-watching and live sports remains as strong as ever!
YouTube TV is raising prices again.
Starting January 13th, the monthly cost of our live TV service will increase from $72.99 to $82.99 for current members, as announced in an email to our subscribers on Thursday. For those who are new to our service, the price will be $82.99 from the same date.
The company explained that the price hike was due to escalating costs associated with content production, along with the need for platform enhancements.
In this message, we want to emphasize that our decisions aren’t taken lightly, as we understand they affect our valued members. We are dedicated to delivering features that revolutionize your live TV experience, such as unlimited DVR storage and multiview capabilities. Furthermore, YouTube TV aims to provide you with a wide array of content and an extensive on-demand library of movies and shows.
The latest price hike for YouTube TV occurred in March 2023, following their agreement to stream NFL Sunday Ticket. At that time, the monthly fee increased from $64.99 to $72.99.
Previously, YouTube raised its monthly subscription fee from $35 to $64.99 in the year 2020, having initially launched in 2017 at the lower price.
YouTube TV often ranks among the top streaming services, and it saw an all-time high of 10.8% share in television usage during November, as reported by Nielsen’s tracking system.
Over the past few months, several streaming services like Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN+ have increased their subscription costs.
