Marvel Is Crossing Over With Godzilla In 2025, And I’m Already Hooked By How Galactus And The Silver Surfer Will Be Involved

As a gamer with a heart that beats for both comic books and giant monsters, I can hardly contain my excitement for the upcoming crossover event of the century – Godzilla vs. Marvel! Ever since I watched the original Godzilla movies as a kid, I’ve been captivated by the sheer power and majesty of these titans. And now, to see them clash with some of my favorite Marvel characters? It’s like my childhood dreams have come true!

Currently, it’s an exciting era for Godzilla enthusiasts! Over the past few years, both “Godzilla Minus One” and “Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire” have graced the big screen. The former received critical praise and snatched the Academy Award for Best Visual Effects, while the latter grossed an impressive $571 million globally, ensuring more adventures featuring these Titans are in production. The Godzilla universe has also flourished in comic books, with 2024 marking the release of the crossover miniseries between DC Comics and Legendary’s MonsterVerse franchise titled “Justice League vs. Godzilla vs. Kong“, followed by a sequel. Now, Marvel is diving into the Toho property in a comic book series, leaving me intrigued about how Galactus and the Silver Surfer will be integrated.

According to THR, the year 2025 is expected to introduce an exciting crossover: Godzilla vs. Marvel. This collaboration will feature six standalone stories penned by Ryan North and beautifully illustrated by John Romita Jr. This marks the first time that Marvel has ventured into the Godzilla universe since the series Godzilla, King of the Monsters was part of the main Marvel continuity from 1977 to 1979. The stories in this new series will span various time periods, with the premiere issue, slated for release in March, titled Godzilla vs. Fantastic Four.

Godzilla Minus One’s Director Is Working On Another Movie With The Kaiju, And Fans Are Freaking Out

A recent Marvel speculation hints at the integration of the Fantastic Four into the next two Avengers films, and I find this proposed plot development quite intriguing.

I’m really excited about this tale for a couple of reasons: Mister Fantastic, Invisible Woman, Thing, and Human Torch are set to face off against King Ghidorah, a three-headed extraterrestrial who debuted in 1964 and has been a recurring villain, most recently in the 2019 film “Godzilla: King of the Monsters,” the third movie in the MonsterVerse. In this iteration, Ghidorah has been imbued with the Power Cosmic by Galactus, making it Galactus’ new messenger, or planet finder if you will, to locate worlds for the cosmic entity to consume. Luckily, the Fantastic Four won’t have to battle this threat on their own, as they’ll be joined in their efforts by Godzilla and Silver Surfer, one of Galactus’ previous messengers, who are working together to protect Earth from the super-empowered King Ghidorah.

Speaking in a casual and engaging manner, let me share my thoughts based on Ezra Miller’s Barry Allen from Justice League: “Hold up, I’m ready to join!” The idea of Godzilla squaring off against King Ghidorah is already exciting enough for me, but knowing that Godzilla will be teaming up with Galactus and the Silver Surfer while the Fantastic Four get involved too, has made me even more eager to dive into this first issue of Godzilla vs. Marvel. I can’t help but wonder if the Silver Surfer might grant his Power Cosmic to Godzilla, giving it a better chance against its formidable adversary.

I’m thrilled that the titles for the remaining five issues in the Godzilla vs. Marvel series haven’t been revealed yet, but the tantalizing artwork released by THR shows Godzilla squaring off against some heavy hitters like Spider-Man, Captain America, Hulk, Thor, Iron Man, Captain Marvel, Scarlet Witch, Storm, Wolverine, Black Panther, and She-Hulk. It seems that the time is ripe for Marvel to reintroduce Godzilla into their universe. Over the years, Marvel’s vice president of licensing and publishing, Sven Larsen, has been in discussions with Toho about creating a comic book crossover. As explained by Marvel editor-in-chief C.B. Cebulski, this collaboration has been long in the making.

At first, we reached out to them regarding our reprints. However, as our discussions progressed, it became apparent that both teams were eager to collaborate further. These joint projects began to take shape over time, in close partnership with Toho. We believed the ideal moment for their release was during Godzilla’s 70th anniversary next year. Working on these projects has been a joy for us, and we hope this is a hint of even more exciting collaborations in the future.

Here’s another way of expressing it: The epic battle between Godzilla and Marvel starts in March! To stay updated with this exciting series, visit your neighborhood comic book store or utilize your favorite digital comic platform. If you’re eager to consume content from both franchises, don’t forget to stream the Marvel movies sequentially using your Disney+ subscription, or catch up on the MonsterVerse films through your Max membership.
