As a die-hard Game of Thrones fan with more than a few gray hairs to prove it, I can hardly contain my excitement about the latest development in the world of Westeros! The upcoming mobile game, Kingsroad, promises to bring back Jon Snow and other beloved characters, with original actor Kit Harington lending his voice to the brooding hero.
Delighted Game of Thrones enthusiasts, here’s some exciting news! If your beloved character from this phenomenal TV series is Jon Snow, then get ready for a fantastic comeback. The latest mobile game, titled “Game of Thrones: Kingsroad“, has a significant focus on Snow, with the original actor, Kit Harington, returning to lend his voice to the character, as reported by Entertainment Weekly .
On December 12, 2024, at the Game Awards event in Los Angeles, gamers were given their initial glimpse of the highly anticipated title, Kingsroad. A two-minute trailer showcased intense battle sequences drenched in blood and a few familiar characters such as Varys (portrayed by Conleth Hill), Jaime Lannister (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau), and Cersei Lannister (Lena Headey) seated on the franchise’s emblematic Iron Throne. As the video concludes, a menacing White Walker assault is hinted at, and Snow’s ominous voice can be heard saying, “Prepare yourself, for whether you accept it or not, winter is upon us.
There Might Be Even More Jon Snow in Future Projects
The game’s narrative builds upon the epic TV series, offering you the chance to carve your destiny amidst the intricate power struggles among noble houses and the impending mystery beyond the Wall. It is characterized as an immersive story-focused action-adventure RPG, where you can explore the realm of Westeros and engage with its inhabitants.
Enthusiasts of the series will undoubtedly rejoice at the return of beloved characters doing what they do best. If you can hardly wait to step back into the world of the Seven Kingdoms, you’ll have a bit more patience until then. The game is slated for release on iOS and Android devices in 2025.
Although fans haven’t seen Jon Snow (Harington/Snow) in Westeros since the series concluded, they almost received an overdose of him on TV. In 2022, it became known that a spin-off series centered around the character was being planned at HBO. However, bits and pieces of information emerged after that, but nothing substantial ever materialized. Then, in October 2024, actor Richard Madden himself revealed to ScreenRant that the project is currently on hold – for the time being, that is.
As a cinephile, I’ve always been tight-lipped about this project because it was still in the works. I didn’t want any premature spoilers to slip out, avoiding the predictable buzz that can either excite fans or spark unnecessary backlash, especially when the outcome is uncertain. During development, you meticulously explore all possibilities and weigh their worth before anything comes to fruition.
At present, we haven’t proceeded with it as we couldn’t discover a compelling story that excited us all. Consequently, we’ve set it aside for now. However, there might come a time when we revisit this idea, but for now, it’s definitely not in progress. In essence, it’s temporarily on hold and waiting on the sidelines.
Given that Harington remains connected to the series, and hinting at potential future spin-offs himself, fans could be in store for even more Snow-related content – that is, if Kit Harington doesn’t just know nothing, similar to the character we all adore, Jon.
