As a seasoned gamer who’s been through countless virtual worlds and cinematic universes, I can confidently say that the 2025 Berlin International Film Festival lineup is shaping up to be an unparalleled adventure. The diversity of stories, cultures, and techniques on display promises an immersive journey like no other.
French fantasist Michel Gondry (The Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, The Science of Sleep). will return to Berlin with his latest animated feature, Maya, donne-moi un titre (Maya, Give Me a Title), screening in the Generation Kplus sidebar of the 2025 Berlin International Film Festival. Described by Gondry as a “stop-motion love letter to his daughter Maya” the film features the voices of Maya Gondry and French star Pierre Niney. It will have its international premiere in Berlin.
On Tuesday, Berlin revealed the initial eight elements (short films) and features for its Generation Kplus and 14plus segments. These consist of ten world premieres that span from subdued stage plays to extravagant dance movies. The complete lineup for Generations will be disclosed in early January. The 75th Berlin International Film Festival is set to take place from February 13-23, 2025.
Here are the 2025 Generation titles unveiled so far:
Titled “The Unseen Nature” or “The Mystery of the Invisible”, this film is directed by Rafaela Camelo and features Laura Brandão, Serena, Larissa Mauro, Camila Márdila, Aline Marta Maia. Hailing from Brazil and Chile, it’s a debut production set for its world premiere in 2025.

Titled “Our Wildest Days,” the debut film of Vasilis Kekatos is presented by Generation 14plus. The star-studded cast includes Daphne Patakia, Nikolakis Zeginoglou, Stavros Tsoumanis, Eva Samioti, and Natalia Swift. This captivating production hails from both Greece and France and will make its world premiere at an unspecified event.
Title bestowed upon me by Maya: “Generation Kplus Directed by Michel Gondry” – Starring Maya Gondry and Pierre Niney, hailing from France. First international showing, animated.
Please don’t disturb the sleeping child (Don’t Wake the Sleeping Child)” is a film by Kevin Aubert, featuring Khadia Ndiaye Fall, Mame Binta Sane, Samba Ly, and Adji Mareme Hanne. This movie is set in Senegal/France and will have its world premiere in 2025 as a short film.
Every Sunday at eleven, the film “Generation Kplus” is directed by Alicia K. Harris and features Zoe Peak, Amia Ogieva, Samaya Hodge, Jasmine Best, and Malea Yarde. This short film hails from Canada and will have its international debut in 2024.
Titled “Ornmol (White Ochre)” and directed by Marlikka Perdrisat, this Australian production from 2025 is slated for its world premiere. It takes the documentary format and falls under the category of a short film.
2025 marks my introduction to “Space Cadet” – the first feature-length animation masterpiece directed by none other than Eric, better known as Kid Koala, hailing from Canada. I was there for its world debut, witnessing this groundbreaking film unfold for the very first time.

A Sandbag Dam ( Zečji nasip) is a film directed by Čejen Černić Čanak and will be released in 2024. The movie features Lav Novosel, Andrija Žunac, Leon Grgić, Petra Mikolaci, and Tanja Smoje as its main stars. It is produced in Croatia, Lithuania, and Slovenia, with its world premiere scheduled for 2024.
