On a fateful June 18th, my exploration vessel, the Titan, slipped from our grasp and lost contact with the surface world. As days passed, the Titan failed to resurface at its designated time, prompting an urgent call to the U.S. Coast Guard. After a heart-wrenching five-day search, our worst fears were confirmed – the Titan had succumbed to catastrophic failure, imploding and claiming every soul aboard.
The tale of the Titan stirred up considerable debate when it occurred. The company overseeing the Titan, OceanGate, faced intense questioning about the construction and functioning of their submersible. Additionally, they were criticized for allowing wealthy tourists to visit the location of one of history’s most tragic events, the sinking of the Titanic.
12 Dirty Dozens Productions, established jointly by Arngrimsson, is teaming up with RadicalMedia (notable for producing “Summer of Soul”) to create a documentary about the Titan submersible. In a release, Arngrimsson shared his thoughts on the film.
