Surprise, Sonic 4 Is Coming, And Now I’m Even More Excited After Sonic 3’s End Credits Scene

As a lifelong Sonic fan who grew up with the blue blur racing through my Game Gear and Sega Genesis screens, I can hardly contain my excitement over the announcement of Sonic the Hedgehog 4! Ever since that disastrous first movie trailer left us all cringing, I never thought I’d see the day where we’d get not just one, but three fantastic films. Now, with a release date set for spring 2027, I can barely wait to see what adventures Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, and the gang have in store for us next!

It’s hard to believe, but here we are, just a few years after we all had a good laugh at the first Sonic the Hedgehog trailer. And now, surprise! The 2024 holiday season brings us a highly anticipated third installment of the movie, added to our lineup as if on cue. But that’s not all – Paramount and Sega seem to have another gift waiting for us under the Christmas tree.

It’s been confirmed that “Sonic the Hedgehog 4” has received the go-ahead for production, and there’s already a tentative launch date to look forward to! With this news, I can’t help but share my enthusiasm with everyone here about the intriguing end credit scenes from “Sonic 3,” and what possible implications they might have.

Sonic The Hedgehog 4 Is Happening, And It Won’t Be Too Far Off

According to Variety’s report, the highly-anticipated “Sonic the Hedgehog 4” has been officially confirmed and is slated for release sometime in the spring of 2027. Although this is a bit longer than the two-year interval between the first three Sonic films, it’s still relatively soon when considering the bigger picture. This announcement leaves us with some uncertainties that I hope will be addressed in the upcoming weeks.

At the moment, we’re not sure of any returning cast members, outside of Ben Schwartz, who shared this announcement on his Instagram. However, the assumption that other key cast members like James Marsden, Tika Sumpter, Adam Pally, Colleen O’Shaughnessy and Idris Elba will be back for the ride is a pretty strong one.

I’d also like to believe that Jeff Fowler, along with writers Pat Casey and Josh Miller, will be part of “Sonic the Hedgehog 4” as well. Given the success of Team Sonic, it seems unnecessary to disrupt such a strong lineup.

Sonic The Hedgehog 3’s Mid And Post Credit Sequences Just Got A Lot More Exciting

Warning: SPOILERS for Sonic the Hedgehog 3 are ahead!

As we approach the final roadsign marked “SPOILERS” for “Sonic the Hedgehog 3”, let’s delve into the hints dropped about what’s to come. Let’s begin with the post-credits scene, where Sonic (Ben Schwartz) inadvertently dashes across the country and arrives in New York State. There, he encounters a horde of Metal Sonics. In a moment that seems hopeless, a speedy figure with a hammer and a sassy demeanor appears, and her name is none other than Amy Rose!

In the post-credits scene, our attention shifts to a well-known sight – a smoky crater containing only a golden bracelet. Then, a familiar sneaker appears, and a deliberate hand, encased in a glove, retrieves it. As the music intensifies, there’s no mistaking it – Shadow the Hedgehog (played by Keanu Reeves) has survived!

Right now, Sonic the Hedgehog 3 is playing in cinemas, so if you’re a die-hard Sega enthusiast, I strongly recommend you watch it. If you haven’t seen the first two Sonic movies or the Knuckles spin-off series, hop over to your closest Paramount+ subscription service and immerse yourself in the magic once more.

More to come…
