As a seasoned gamer and enthusiast of all things animated, I can hardly contain my excitement about the upcoming addition of Bluey to Disney World and Disneyland! Growing up with a diverse range of cartoons from different corners of the globe, it’s always refreshing to see a unique character like Bluey make her mark on the international stage.
Next year, one of the beloved global animated characters will be introduced at both Walt Disney World and Disneyland – Bluey, the main character from the successful Disney+ show called “Bluey”.
As a devoted fan, I’m thrilled to be part of the excitement as Bluey makes his way into Disney theme parks and the Disney Cruise Line. This exciting expansion is the result of a strengthened partnership between Disney, BBC Studios – the commercial arm of the BBC that broadcasts the beloved Australian animated series – and Ludo Studio, the brilliant minds behind its production.
It was revealed earlier this week that a movie featuring “Bluey” will hit cinemas in the year 2027, with Disney handling distribution. The creator of “Bluey”, Joe Brumm, is responsible for both writing and directing the film.
This arrangement stands out due to Disney showcasing its own proprietary content through its theme parks and cruise lines. Including a character from another company (even one popular on a Disney service such as Disney+), however, is quite uncommon, as you might imagine.
Next month, Bluey and her younger sister Bingo are set to make their first appearance on Disney Cruise Line voyages departing from Australia and New Zealand. They’ll be meeting fans, playing games, and hosting dance parties. More details about how Bluey characters will feature at Disneyland and Disney World are yet to come; the team at Ludo and BBC are collaborating with Disney to create these unique experiences, which will be announced in the near future.
Disney’s chairman of Experiences, Josh D’Amaro, expressed excitement in a statement about how ‘Bluey’ has become a well-known character in homes worldwide. He looks forward to sharing her tale in innovative ways. We can hardly wait to see our little visitors and their families creating memories with Bluey in our theme parks and cruises,” (paraphrased)
Nicki Sheard, CEO of BBC Studios brands and licensing, commented that the Heeler family’s first appearance at Disney Theme Parks and Cruises is the perfect finale to a fantastic year for ‘Bluey’. We are dedicated to providing top-tier experiences for our fans, and we can’t wait to welcome families through the doors next year.
