Did you know Vivek Oberoi had to say ‘no’ to Shah Rukh Khan’s Om Shanti Om for THIS film?

As a lifestyle expert with a keen eye for the intricacies of the Bollywood industry and a deep appreciation for the artistry that goes into crafting a cinematic masterpiece, I find Vivek Oberoi‘s career choices both fascinating and commendable. His ability to weigh the pros and cons of each role, considering factors like character development, personal preparation, and project significance, is truly admirable.

As a devotee following Vivek Oberoi’s career, I must acknowledge that he’s graced numerous significant productions. Yet, there are some blockbuster movies like Munna Bhai MBBS, Hum Tum, and Om Shanti Om where he wasn’t involved. In a recent chat with the media, this talented actor shared his reason for turning down Shah Rukh Khan’s film – he was already immersed in the making of our gangster drama, Shootout at Lokhandwala.

During an interview with MensXP, Vivek Oberoi explained that he had to decide between taking on roles in Om Shanti Om or Shootout at Lokhandwala since their shooting dates conflicted. Interestingly, both films required him to portray negative characters. Discussing his decision to go with Apoorva Lakhia’s action-thriller, Oberoi mentioned that he was drawn to the character and had already been conducting extensive research for it when Farah Khan approached him.

The newcomer to the company explained, “I’d interacted with police officers, studied his criminal records, and was developing my character based on that. I had spent about four to five months preparing for this role. At that stage, it would have been challenging to abruptly shift gears and adopt a sophisticated, suit-wearing persona.

Yet, he openly acknowledged that under different circumstances, he would have gladly agreed to join Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone’s action-drama. Expressing his admiration for Farah’s movie, Vivek confessed that it would have been an extraordinary experience to collaborate with Shah Rukh, as throughout his career, he had only shared a few shooting days together with the ‘King Khan’ in Saathiya where he appeared as a guest.

During the same interview, the actor discussed the idea of love and marriage, explaining that he doesn’t comprehend the notion of an open marriage. He admitted to being confused about the meaning of open exclusivity. According to him, a relationship should either be exclusive or it means nothing at all; there is no such thing as open exclusivity.
