Elon’s AI startup xAI raises $6 Billion in funding

The AI firm, xAI (founded by Elon Musk), has successfully secured a massive $6 Billion investment, dramatically strengthening its competitive edge against competitors like OpenAI. The company disclosed their intention to utilize these funds for expanding their operations and accelerating research and development efforts.

Key players in this funding round were BlackRock, Fidelity, Sequoia Capital, along with others. xAI’s offerings encompass the Grok chatbot, which garnered support from American venture capitalists and tech giants like NVIDIA and AMD. Additionally, it received investments from funds based in Saudi Arabia and Qatar.

As per reports, Elon Musk, in a post on X, asserted that “A significant amount of computing power” is required, following the recent investment round. Shortly after, he announced the creation of what he described as the world’s largest supercomputer, located in Memphis, to support Grok – a chatbot developed by xAI. Now, Grok is accessible to subscribers on X.

Apart from founding OpenAI, Elon Musk previously was part of its leadership team, but he departed in 2018 due to differences with other founders, including CEO Sam Altman. Despite his worries about AI potentially posing a risk to humanity, he asserts that he can guide its development in a manner that ensures the community’s safety.
