As the year winds down, Nike has unveiled its rundown of the most sought-after SNKRS releases in 2024. Previously, they’ve shared similar lists for 2022 and 2023, with Travis Scott’s Air Jordan 1 Low OG collaborations sitting atop both rankings. This year, though, Scott has managed to do even better – not only snagging the number one spot but also securing four out of the top five positions.
As a passionate sneaker enthusiast with over two decades of collecting under my belt, I must say that this year’s most sought-after sneakers have once again proven to be a fascinating study in trends and consumer preferences. Having grown up in the era of Michael Jordan’s dominance on the basketball court, it’s no surprise to see his signature shoes commanding such a strong presence on the SNKRS platform.
The Air Jordan 1 Low OGs have consistently demonstrated their enduring appeal, as they took not only first and second place but also fifth in this year’s rankings. The Air Jordan 4 “Bred Reimagined” and its “Industrial Blue” colorway further solidified the brand’s grip on the sneaker market.
However, it was Travis Scott’s AJ1 Low OG Sail that stole the show in fourth place, narrowly missing out on the top spot. The Kobe 6 Protro “Italian Camo” and Futura x Nike SB Dunk Low also made strong appearances in seventh and eighth place respectively.
What truly caught my attention were the two non-Jordan Brand drops, Trophy Room’s AJ1 Low OG “Rookie Card – Away” and J Balvin’s Air Jordan 3 “Rio,” rounding out the top ten. These releases showcased the growing influence of collaborations and cultural fusion in today’s sneaker world.
As a collector, I can’t help but be amazed by the ever-evolving landscape of sneakers, and I eagerly await to see what the future holds for this passionate community.
As a long-time sneaker enthusiast who has been following the shoe trends for years, I find it fascinating to see how the sneaker market is evolving. From my perspective, the data presented in this report offers some valuable insights into the current state of the industry.
It’s intriguing to note that Scott and the AJ1 were present in 40% of the entries. It’s no secret that these two iconic sneakers have been staples in my own collection, and it’s great to see their enduring popularity reflected in this data.
I also found it noteworthy that the AJ4 was the only non-collaboration pair from Jordan Brand to make the list. This shows that while collaborations can certainly drive sales, there is still a market for classic, standalone designs. In fact, I personally own an AJ4 and can attest to its timeless appeal.
It’s also interesting to see that Low-tops were the most popular style with six entries, accounting for 75% of the total count. As someone who prefers low-cut sneakers myself, I’m glad to see that this preference is reflected in the data.
Lastly, it was surprising to see Nike only holding 20% of the spots, down from 50% the past two years. This could indicate a shift in consumer preferences towards other brands or styles, and I’ll be keeping an eye on how this develops in the future. All in all, this data provides a snapshot of the current sneaker market that is both informative and thought-provoking for any enthusiast like myself.
