This week, SZA’s album “SOS” has broken a new chart record by spending its 12th week in a row (not necessarily consecutive) at number one on the Billboard 200.
The album, newly released as its deluxe “LANA” edition, garnered approximately 130,000 units equivalent to an album during the week ending January 2. This total consists of 125,500 streaming units (representing 166.31 million on-demand streams), 4,000 physical sales, and 500 track units. With this being its 12th consecutive week at No. 1, SOS has become the first R&B/hip-hop album by a woman to achieve that milestone in 38 years; the previous record holder, dating back to 1986, was Whitney Houston’s self-titled album.
In another part of the chart, Kendrick Lamar ascends to position 2, with Sabrina Carpenter moving up to position 3. The soundtrack from the movie “Wicked” takes position 4, while Billie Eilish occupies position 5. The remaining half of this week’s top 10 includes Taylor Swift at position 6, Chappell Roan at position 7, Morgan Wallen at position 8, Gracie Abrams at position 9, and Tyler, the Creator at position 10.
