‘The Last of Us’ Sets Season 2 Return for April

The series “The Last of Us” will make its comeback in April; the exact release date will be unveiled at a future time.

Neil Druckmann, who serves as co-creator, writer, and executive producer, shared the news during Sony’s press conference at CES on Monday. The upcoming season will comprise seven episodes.

Season two carries forward the narrative of apocalypse survivors, Joel (played by Pedro Pascal), Ellie (Bella Ramsey) and Joel’s brother Tommy (Gabriel Luna). It will introduce a number of fresh characters, including Kaitlyn Dever portraying Abby, who is at the center of attention in the newly released teaser trailer that came out on Monday.

The brief glimpse (shown below) includes some footage from the first trailer released in 2023, featuring Catherine O’Hara as a guest star interacting with Pascal’s character Joel. Additionally, it introduces new cast members Jeffrey Wright and Isabela Merced. This sneak peek offers a suspenseful and ominous hint of what lies ahead post the conclusion of season one.

Five years following the incidents from the first season, Joel and Ellie find themselves embroiled in disputes not only with each other but also in a world that’s become even more perilous and erratic compared to what they initially departed.

For the second season, we have Rutina Wesley reprising her role as Maria, alongside fresh faces such as Young Mazino portraying Jesse, Ariela Barer as Mel, Tati Gabrielle as Nora, Spencer Lord as Owen, and Danny Ramirez in the character of Manny.

The TV series “The Last of Us” is developed from the popular video game franchise and is overseen by Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann in terms of writing and production. The show is a joint venture with Sony Pictures Television. In addition, Carolyn Strauss, Jacqueline Lesko, Cecil O’Connor, Asad Qizilbash, Carter Swan, and Evan Wells are fellow executive producers, while Halley Gross serves as writer and co-executive producer.
