CBS plans to maintain its customary scheduling of “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert” following its major NFL broadcast, even though it won’t be airing the Super Bowl this season.
Instead of airing the NFL’s championship game on Fox in February, CBS has decided to feature “The Late Show” after the AFC Championship on January 26th. Normally, the conference championship games on CBS and Fox attract the biggest audiences for NFL (or any other network programming) during a season, apart from the Super Bowl.
CBS will air “The Late Show” instead of the NFL’s title game in February, following the AFC Championship on January 26th. The conference championship games on CBS and Fox usually have the largest audiences for NFL or any other TV programming during a season, except for the Super Bowl.
CBS is set to premiere its fresh medical drama titled “Watson“, featuring Morris Chestnut, following the AFC championship match.
Colbert has hosted a Late Show episode on Super Bowl Sunday every time CBS broadcasted the game during the last four occurrences, including the one last year. Some of these shows were live, but the one scheduled for January 26th is going to be pre-recorded. The guest list for the show will be revealed closer to its air date.
After Watson and local news broadcasts, The Late Show will be aired. This program will be shown at 11:35 p.m. Eastern Time, 8:35 p.m. Pacific Time, 10:35 p.m. in Central and Mountain time zones. Please note that the exact start time may vary depending on how long the NFL game broadcast lasts. Additionally, CBS plans to use the AFC Championship as an opportunity to promote their upcoming midseason premieres and returns, most of which are scheduled for the week starting January 27th.
