In response to the ongoing wildfires in the Los Angeles region, production studios and agencies are either closing their film sets and buildings, or giving their staff the option to work from home safely.
Due to their locations in Burbank and Universal City, Disney Studios, Universal, and Warner Bros. Studios have closed both their studio lots and offices. The exception is Universal, which has allowed only “essential” personnel to work onsite.

The studio complexes in Burbank and Universal City (Disney Studios, Universal, and Warner Bros.) are temporarily shut down, meaning their lots and offices have been closed. However, the rule doesn’t apply to everyone at Universal, as only “essential” staff members are required to work onsite.
Filming for movies and TV series on the studio lots has been temporarily halted as a result. Additionally, Universal Studios Hollywood theme park, situated next to the studio, closed its doors on Wednesday.
In contrast to other studios located further away from the fires, a more adaptable strategy is being adopted.
Sony Pictures, based in Culver City, is keeping its doors open for those who prefer working on-site, but it’s not mandatory for staff members to attend.
The Paramount Pictures studio in Hollywood is currently operational, but staff members have been advised to work remotely if possible. Unfortunately, guided tours around the Paramount studio have been suspended.
At both UTA in Beverly Hills and CAA in Century City, they’re urging their staff to work from where they feel safest – either at home or in the office. On the other hand, WME’s office is currently shut down.
The adjustments made by employers highlight one significant shift that has occurred in Hollywood since the COVID-19 pandemic. This crisis necessitated the closure of offices and studio lots, compelling employees to work from home. Although film and TV productions require an in-person presence, a large portion of the office work related to the business can now be accomplished remotely. These changes showcase the industry’s adaptability amidst adversity, enabling it to keep functioning, even if not quite at its pre-pandemic pace.
