SZA Responds to the Possibility of Releasing Joint Album With Kendrick Lamar

Prior to embarking on their joint tour with SZA and Kendrick Lamar, the artist has expressed her musings regarding the possibility of a shared album.

This year in April, the pair are scheduled to embark on the Grand National Tour together. They have previously collaborated on each other’s tracks and, following their appearance on the Sherri show, SZA hinted at the potential for a joint album down the line. When asked about it, SZA expressed her enthusiasm, saying, “I would absolutely adore that! I think it would be fantastic. He’s incredibly talented.” She went on to say, “One of his talents is his elusiveness and mystery, and I find it intriguing. I don’t always know what he’s up to any more than you do.

During a segment of the interview, SZA discussed the creative development behind her collaborative tracks “Gloria” and “Luther” from the GNX project. She expressed, “When I heard ‘Luther,’ I immediately knew, ‘That’s the vocals we’re going with, full stop,’ and the same went for ‘Gloria,’ as I said, ‘I love that.'” Further, she mentioned, “He plays a significant role in my stumbling and finding phase because I’m simply placing faith in all his knowledge. Being pushed into these moments and limelight, saying yes, and he excels at saying yes while staying humble. So, I find myself thinking, ‘Teach me, master, your wisdom.’

The joint tour by SZA and Kendrick Lamar, titled the Grand National Tour, kicks off in Minneapolis on April 19th and concludes in Washington on June 18th.
