A Montreal-based design firm, NatureHumaine, collaborated with a youthful pair to construct a serene forest hideaway, nestled deep within the woods of Quebec.
Drawing inspiration from the tranquil qualities of moonstone, as symbolized by the client-chosen name “selenite” for the project, the architects aimed to design an environment that would serve as a perfect sanctuary for relaxation and rejuvenation.
The comprehensive idea is clearly reflected in both the structure and hue of the cabin, as well as its purpose. For the couple, ensuring the room was universally usable by all visitors, especially those with limited mobility, was of utmost importance.
In the heart of the woods, the architects decided from the beginning that the lodge would have a simple, all-white design reminiscent of selenite, emphasizing its tranquil essence.
To accomplish this, they crafted the house with a crystalline appearance by incorporating sloped rooftops and painting it as a pristine cube. Skylights scatter throughout the property, inviting sunlight indoors while offering glimpses of the ever-evolving skies overhead.
To promote maximum tranquility, we’ve equipped our facility with various relaxation spaces such as steam baths, saunas, spas, cold baths, and salt rooms. The lighting throughout is harmonized with your body’s natural circadian rhythms for optimal comfort. Moreover, you can enjoy guided meditation sessions in any of these rooms to further enhance your peaceful experience.
In their material choices, the architects prioritized health and wellness just as much. They opted for insulation made from hemp, and ensured that all paints, stains, and interior finishes were devoid of any hazardous substances.
For certain compact ventures, there are grand aspirations – such as Selenite. As the architects express, the clients have been eager to collaborate with them for quite some time in order to bring their vision of eco-friendly design, wellness, and an exceptional resort experience to life.
