Mukesh Khanna, famously known for his role as India’s first superhero Shaktimaan, has denied rumors suggesting that he claimed superiority over actor Ranveer Singh for the same role. In a recent interview, he firmly dismissed such notions, labeling it foolish to even consider him playing Shaktimaan again in the future.
During an interview with Hindi Rush, Mukesh Khanna clarified the rumors, stating, “They mistakenly assumed I had said that Ranveer Singh is better than me. It was foolish of me to say that I will be the only one around in the future. If I were going to do so, I would have started saying it two years ago. The truth is, I was never gone.
People exaggerated by suggesting that I claimed I’m superior to Ranveer Singh. It’s preposterous to assume I’d boast about becoming Shaktimaan in the future. If I truly intended to, I would have begun two years ago. My schedule was flexible at the time.
Or, more casually:
People were overzealous in implying that I said I’m better than Ranveer Singh. It’s ridiculous to imagine me bragging about being Shaktimaan someday. If I seriously planned to, I would have started working on it two years ago. I was free to do so when the opportunity arose.

In response to questions about the press conference where he asked the crowd to be quiet, Mukesh Khanna stated, “I scolded the public to keep calm. I said, ‘What’s going on there, Go outside.’ They also reported that Mukesh Ji got upset. Yes, I do get upset.
Mukesh Khanna recounted a time that brought back memories of around the year 2000, where incidents involving children harmed or lost in connection with Shaktimaan were common. In fact, approximately every 15 days, such unfortunate news stories would surface.
He went on to explain, “I enlisted the help of a detective service, instructing them to uncover the truth. Rajesh Sharma too lent his aid, expressing his feelings of powerlessness on my behalf. In that situation, I attempted to apprehend the child who was rumored to have started a fire in an effort to save someone, acting like Shaktimaan.
Afterward, Mukesh mentioned, “We realized that the fire was caused by something else, but they put the name ‘Shaktimaan’ on top. Not even a father and son would have the courage to do such a thing. Children are being killed in the name of Shaktimaan, and for six months, I had to present my case.
Initially, when I apprehended him, it turned out that the burns weren’t due to Shaktimaan as initially assumed, but someone had wrongfully associated them with him. Such an act of deceit would be beyond the courage of even a father and son. This misinformation led people to believe that children were dying in the name of Shaktimaan, and I spent six months arguing my case to clear my name of these false accusations.
1997 saw the introduction of Shaktimaan on Doordarshan, a series that would become one of India’s most recognized superhero shows. With more than 450 episodes, it made an indelible mark, fondly remembered by fans as a timeless classic that evokes nostalgia.
