Shows like CBS’s NCIS, NCIS: Origins, The Neighborhood, and Poppa’s House, as well as Jimmy Kimmel Live! on ABC, are among those resuming production. Additionally, numerous NBCUniversal shows such as MAX’s Hacks, NBC’s Happy’s Place and Suits: L.A., Peacock’s Ted, and the Apple TV+ series Loot are also set to resume filming in the area. Similarly, the majority of Disney’s 20th Television productions will also be held back, including the lengthy ABC series “Grey’s Anatomy.

The Academy Errs on the Side of Caution As the Fires Rage On

On January 13, 2025, it was revealed that the voting for the 97th Academy Awards and the announcement of nominations were being postponed again due to wildfires. The new deadline for voting is now January 17, 2025, with the nominees to be announced on Thursday, January 23, 2025. Despite this delay, the Oscars ceremony itself remains unchanged and is still set to broadcast on March 2, 2025.

24 people have tragically lost their lives due to fires that have also destroyed numerous homes and buildings. At the moment, these fires are being controlled to different extents. For instance, the biggest fire in the Palisades is at 14% containment, while the Eaton Fire stands at 33%. By the way, I should add that the smaller Hurst fire near San Fernando has almost been fully contained.

92,000 people are currently under evacuation orders, while another 89,000 are in areas where evacuations may be required. The potentially destructive Santa Ana winds, responsible for igniting the L.A. fires, will continue to create hazardous fire conditions over the next three days. Authorities are actively investigating the causes of these fires, looking into all possibilities, including arson. It’s thought that the Palisades fire may have been started by humans. We won’t fully understand the extent of the damage in Los Angeles County until later this week, due to the increased likelihood of more fires erupting during the upcoming windstorm.
