Broadway Box Office: John Mulaney’s ‘All In: A Comedy About Love’ Brings In Close to $1.7M

Last week, All In: A Comedy About Love made it to the list of the five highest-grossing comedies in the industry, with John Mulaney and the rest of the rotating cast wrapping up their performances.

The Hudson Theatre’s production of short story readings, earning nearly $1.7 million during its run, was fully booked. Last week, the cast included comedians Mulaney, Fred Armisen, Richard Kind, and Chloe Fineman. In the coming weeks, the lineup will change, with Lin-Manuel Miranda, Aidy Bryant, Andrew Rannells, and Nick Kroll set to take the stage starting from now until February 16th. The show is titled All In.

In summary, the overall earnings in the industry decreased by nearly 29% compared to the previous week, while attendance also dipped by 12.5%. This is because Broadway is transitioning from its profitable holiday seasons into the less prosperous winter months.

During the final week of its Broadway run on January 12, the play titled Stereophonic achieved an impressive feat by earning over $1 million at the Golden Theatre. This was the second highest grossing week for the production (the highest being the week following the 2024 Tony Awards, where it won ‘Best Play’ and four additional awards). The play had initially premiered on Broadway in April 2024 and managed to recover its Broadway investment. It is set to return to London’s West End starting May 2025 at the Duke of York’s Theatre. A nationwide U.S. tour commences in October 2021, starting in Seattle.

Last week, Nicole Scherzinger was away from Sunset Blvd, taking a planned vacation. While she was gone, the show earned approximately $855,098 – a significant drop of around $738,770 compared to the previous week. This decrease suggests that Scherzinger’s presence has an influence on ticket sales, and it also indicates a dip following the holiday season. The average price of tickets dropped from $127.66 to $79.76 during this period.

In the industry, Wicked remained number one with earnings of $2.4 million, closely trailed by Hamilton with $1.85 million, The Lion King with $1.75 million, and Gypsy with slightly less at $1.748 million.
