‘Scream 7’ Adds Joel McHale as Husband to Sidney Prescott

It’s been confirmed by The Hollywood Reporter that the seventh installment of “Scream” has cast an actor to portray the husband to Neve Campbell’s character, Sidney Prescott.

Actor Joel McHale has signed up to portray Mark Evans, a spouse character, in the upcoming addition of the horror series that he’ll be working on alongside Spyglass Entertainment. Previously, Isabel May was chosen to play the daughter of a different character in Scream 7.

In the seventh installment of the “Scream” series, changes have been made following the departure of its young leads, Jenna Ortega and Melissa Barrera. Previously absent due to a contract disagreement, Neve Campbell will return for the upcoming film, with a focus on her character, Sidney Prescott, and her daughter.

Or in a more conversational tone:

For the seventh movie in the “Scream” series, things have shifted since stars Jenna Ortega and Melissa Barrera left. Previously out due to a pay dispute, Neve Campbell is back for this new film, which will concentrate on her character, Sidney Prescott, and her daughter.

Kevin Williamson, responsible for the franchise’s inception and author of the scripts for the original directed by Wes Craven, as well as Scream 2 and Scream 4, is taking on the director’s role. Meanwhile, Guy Busick, who penned both the 2022 version of Scream and Scream VI, has written the latest script.

The highly anticipated film “Scream 7” is slated for a theater release on February 27, 2026. The production is handled by Project X Entertainment with James Vanderbilt, William Sherak, and Paul Neinstein serving as producers. The successful duo of Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, known as Radio Silence, are back to steer the series following their successful work on 2022’s “Scream” and last year’s “Scream VI”, which they also directed and earned a worldwide box office of $166.3 million.

Wes Craven directed the 1996 original film “Scream”, a script initially penned by Kevin Williamson on speculation. Since the inception of this series, Sidney has been its central character. The first movie also featured Courteney Cox as Gale Weathers and David Arquette as Dewey Riley.

As a gamer, I’ve made a name for myself in the entertainment world with my roles. I starred in Fox’s hilarious comedy series, “Animal Control,” and hosted their thrilling cooking competition show, “Crime Scene Kitchen.” You might have also spotted me on “The Bear.” I’m proudly represented by UTA and Ziffren Brittenham.

Deadline Hollywood was first to report on McHale boarding Scream 7.
